Mammoth is too regular. Also, I wish they'd go back to the more modern production from SIT2

Mammoth should have at least a 4 star rating here. Everyone seems to like it, and it made many best-of 2011 lists. But people rated it lower because previous albums were better... If everyone did that there'd be more albums with lower ratings. I thought Mammoth was a 5 star effort, along with SiT2 and DS. The band has been on a roll since SiT2.
SiT1 was a 4 star effort, and I have yet to hear the Sane Day (it's a double album?) I dont want to hear the new song they have, I will wait until the album is released. |

And a very interesting, but good, one at that. I was lucky enough to find a basically-new copy of this at Amoeba in LA, and this being my first Beardfish album, I was instantly hooked on this band. |

For me, liking an album is only a 2 or 3 star affair, depending how much I like it.

Mammoth certainly rates as one of my top albums for 2011. In my opinion, it is as good as Destined Solitaire. I will be looking out for this album with keen interest.

Mammoth is my first Beardfish album. And I'll chop my arm off if it's not a f**king masterpiece. The epic especially

"The Sane Day" is a masterpiece. Get it immediately, without listening, and right now. And while you're at it, get "Fran En Plats Du Ej Kan Se" too. That one is very, very good too. Don't the Swedish title and some of the vocals (not all) fool you. Get it. |

I can't agree more. "The Sane Day" is magic. "The Reason for Constructing And/Or Building Pyramids", "Tall Tales", "Blue Moon", "Igloo on Two"... Too many Beardfish classics are found on this album. Although, I think every one of their albums are 8,9, or 10/10 |

How could I forget ..."And Never Know" from "Sane Day"
The first 2 minutes are Beardfish at their most thrilling!

Brand new interview with members of Beardfish. They discuss how the band works, in studio and live, and give us some info on a new album coming out this summer, in August.

I just saw them in Baltimore at Orion Studios this past Monday (5/14) - they opened with "Sleeping In Traffic"....so hands down that is the best show-opener I'll likely see in my entire life. They played two new tracks near the end of their set, including "Voluntary Slavery". I'm digging the new material. Rikard did confirm the album will be out in August, as a previous poster mentioned.

From InsideOut Music's website:
BEARDFISH: REVEAL COVER ARTWORK AND TRACKLIST OF THEIR NEW ALBUM + ANNOUNCE TOUR IN FALL SUPPORTING FLYING COLOURS Only about 1 ½ years after the release of their last record "Mammoth", Beardfish are now back with a new masterpiece. "The Void" will be released on August 27th 2012 in Europe and on August 28th 2012 in the US via InsideOutMusic. It is darker, heavier and in some parts it even has a bit of a metal edge to it, while still incorporating all that Beardfish and their typical warm retro-sound stand for. The band comments: "We went full-on with this one... We've had some trouble in the past to convey our live energy on the studio albums. This is the one that shines through, I think! It's an album about loss. It's about love. It celebrates both life and death and the struggle in between to heal the wounds that don't show and to actually take the step to move forward in life. We've been waiting to share these songs with all of you for a while now and we, Beardfish, are really proud to present to you 'The Void'"
Beardfish will be suuporting Supergroup Flying Colors in September so you'll have the chance to witness their amazing energy live on stage. Here are the dates: Tourdates (in support of Flying Colors): September 9th - Hamburg, Germany - Markthalle September10th - Berlin, Germany - C-Club September 11th - Munich, Germany - Theaterfabrik September 13th - Milan, Italy - Alcatraz September 14th - Zurich, Switzerland - Volkshaus September 15th - Stuttgart, Germany - Zapata September 16th - Aschaffenburg, Germany - Colos-Saal September 17th - Cologne, Germany - Gloria September 19th - Paris, France - Le Trianon September 20th - Tilburg, Holland - 013 September 21st - London, England - Shepherd's Bush Empire Line Up: Rikard Sjöblom - vocals, keyboards David Zackrinsson - guitars Robert Hansen - bass Magnus Östgren - drums Discography: Fran En Plats Du Ej Kan Se (2003) The Sane Day (2006) Sleeping In Traffic: Part One (2007) Sleeping In Traffic: Part Two (2008) Destined Solitaire (2009) Mammoth (2011) The Void (2012) Keep your eyes and ears open for more info! Great. Mammoth was interesting, but not too far from what you would expect from a retro band.
Too bad I won't be able to see them with Flying Colours.

I'm excited! I do miss the cover art of the last two albums, I thought they would do at least one more in that style. Looks like "Note" is the big epic? I like that Andy Tillison is on the opening track (but what does he do there?)
