Topic: Nightwish VS Epica Posted: August 18 2012 at 22:12 |
I think I prefer Nightwish, but I also like Epica. Any thoughts?

I find Simone Simons a lot more palatable than Tarja, and even if I don't particularly like either, Epica is at least more interesting than many of these female fronted symph metal bands (Within Temptation and After Forever are other such).

I'd take Epica over Nightwish any day, though I do like Nightwish. But Epica is more interesting to me.

I like both, but since I don't like growling so much (I like Epica's non-growl songs), I go with Nightwish. I like Tarja's era very much, and the latest album (without Tarja) was really great for me.

I think both are OK, not my favorite music, but I enjoy them on occasion. But honest to God, Epica have an early DVD that did blow me away. I loved this. Live in the studio, with intimate discussion and some killer music. If you like Epica even a little, get this.

Seen them both live - prefer Nightwish by quite a wide margin.

Nightwish has more prog elements and they are best for me as the musicians. And I don't like growl in prog-rock.

I guess I still say I prefer Nightwish, but since the creation of the thread there has been released a few new albums. I found the Endless Forms Most Beatiful one by Nightwish rather dissapointing, even if I was looking forward to Floor Jansen singing with Nightwish. Fortunatley the Storytime live album has many songs from the Immaginaerum album sung by Floor, which really takes those ones even a step up. On the other hand, I really loved Epica's "The Quantum Enigma"... though I found "The Holographic Principle" rather dissapointing... almost as bad as "Requiem for the indifferent".

I like both, but if I had to choose I guess Nightwish.
