My dad and I still have great times often, usually based around music or sports. I'm glad he lives only about 15 miles away.

Wise words Doug....been almost 2 years for me and I still miss him daily.  And think about how lucky I was to have him.

I love my dad. Luckily he's only a little more than half the age of your's, so I have him for a long time.

Trust me, I beat myself up about a lot of things. I'm not like "Oh, I'm so amazing! I'm the awesomest kid ever!". I just try to keep a balance

Well, I can be modest, but to a point. I praise myself but I try to make sure I don't over do it.

Stating that makes that statement itself null.
If Alex Lifeson said that he was a good guitar player, would him saying that make it null? When thinking realistically, compared to most kids my age, I am more mature. I just am. I'm not saying I'm some super grown-up genius, just mature for my age.

It's more or less like saying you're modest. Someone who is mature would not have to mention or remind others that they are mature for their age.
