TRANSATLANTIC - hands down. I enjoy every single thing they have done.
It's where the whole is better than the sum of the parts.

I've liked MARILLION since high school when Fish was the singer. I do enjoy some of the "H" albums, but they are hit/miss for me.

Same deal with SPOCK'S BEARD - although I am a big Neal solo fan,

Recently got into THE FLOWER KINGS, and like everything I've heard so far.

I appreciate DREAM THEATER and what they have done but just doesn't grab me.

Regardless of what you like, its all good music and I'm glad we have it.

Flower Kings for me, though I did give some consideration to Spock's Beard in light of this year's release from them.  

For some reason, I don't like Transatlantic nearly as much as any of the original bands, I don't know exactly why that is but The Whirlwind left me cold.  The two before that have some great moments but I listen to the other bands far more often than the supergroup.  My ranking is something like this:

The Flower Kings
Spock's Beard
Dream Theater
Marillion
Transatlantic
(Kapia)

I don't have an unnatural obsession with Disney Princesses, I have a fourteen year old daughter and coping mechanisms.

The Flower Kings easily get my vote which is probably not too much of a surprise.

I like all 5 bands though.  The order 2 through to 5 would change from time to time.  Presently Transatlantic at 2, then Marillion, DT and Spock's Beard.

Transatlantic, closely followed by Spocks Beard for me.

I do like Dream Theater to an extent. There's no denying the talents within the band (Labrie excepted ) but these days I just see them as a clever heavy metal band. Marillion I liked in the 1980s, but the Hogarth material has never hit the spot with me (although, even Fish era Marillion gets few plays these days). The Flower Kings, like DT has some exceptional musicians, but only 'Unfold The Future' really hits the spot for me.

Spocks Beard I liked as soon as I heard them - not so keen on the post-Morse albums, but after hearing The Whirlwind by Transatlantic I was blown away & now realise Neal Morse is a one-man prog rock revival.

Marillion for their first EP, first four albums, Season's End, Afraid of Sunlight, This Strange Engine, Marbles and Sounds That Can't Be Made.

Marillion, but only through "Afraid of Sunlight."  Don't care for much after that album. Spock's Beard second, Transatlantic third, and Flower King's fourth.  Appreciate DT's musicianship, but the music doesn't do  a lot for me.

DT, but only really for Scenes. I listen to 90's Marillion the most out of these though; I actually can't stand most of their 80's material. Big smile

Indeed, I guess it is one of the few supergroup that really is a sum of it's parts, instead of just another disapontment (Asia anyone).
