Genesis in the 80s was not catchy, clever and well produced? I thought it definitely was all this, and that was exactly what was wrong with it. |

I do love 'em both. But I could live without Genesis.......but not Yes at their best.

Whoa there, slow down . Duran Duran put out much better tracks in the 80s than did Genesis.

Looking at the 80s pop I think Billy Idol and Nik Kershaw were more listenable than both

I don't mind 80s Genesis. But 80s Yes is awesome. Everything that Yes did in the 80s was good IMO.

I am currently digging:
Hawkwind, Rare Bird, Gong, Tangerine Dream, Khan, Iron Butterfly, and all things canterbury and hard-psych. I also love jazz! Please drop me a message with album suggestions. |

Their 80s music has aged much better than Genesis too.

I went for Yes as they are more consistent than Genesis that bombed out in the 80s - now its 55 votes a piece. The only thing for it now is to put Collins and Anderson in a pit and let them fight it out.

Hm
Today I answer Genesis Tomorrow I might answer Yes. I always considered these to be equal in my book. The difference is that as a guitar guy I prefer Hackett to Anderson, so Genesis wins this one by a smidge the width of a high E string. |

In my humble opinion (and according to my tastes), Genesis has more great albums than Yes has.
So Genesis it is for me.

Even if i prefer Genesis to Yes, those 2 bands are very different, and i always have some doubt if "Symphonic prog rock" is a suitable category for Genesis. |
