I'm really surprised by the results. I expected the second half to be the clear winner... though I did expect the first half the get some love, given that we are in PA. However, though I do like a lot of stuff from the first albums, I must say the second is just awsome, and the band sounds so much more mature, plus, some of my very favourite albums of all are from this bunch of albums: "Wish you were Here", "Animals", "The Division Bell", plus of course I also love "Dark Side of the Moon", and to a lesser degree, "The Wall". Even "Momentary Lapse of Reason" is very good, and "The Final Cut" has it's moments. If I should rate their albums, it would go like this: - Piper at the gates of Dawn, 3* - Saucerful of Secrets, 3* - More, 3* - Ummagumma, 4* - Atom Heart Mother, 4* - Meddle, 4* - Obscured by Clouds, 3* Total: 24* - Dark Side of the Moon, 5* - Wish you were here, 5* - Animals, 5* - The Wall, 4* - The Final cut, 3* - A Momentary Lapse of Reason, 4* - The Division Bell, 5* Total: 31* So, I guess I'm a Pink Floyd fanboy...

Dark Side, WYWH and Animals.......no contest. I would say Atom Heart and Meddle are the strongest of the first 7, again like another poster I am not a huge fan of their first 2 albums

I think it all boils down to how the songs make me feel. I don't find that much in the second half that I really feel resonates with me, but I can get as much out of pop music as I can prog rock. The first half has a lot of spotty stuff that I just don't listen to, but the gems still shine brightly for me.
I picked the first half.

What 2nd half has Animals, Wish You Were Here and The Dark Side of the Moon, and the 1st has The Piper, A Saucerful and Meddle. Though 2nd group has by far higher ups it also has one of the most atrocious albums I've heard, which is A Momentary Lapse of Reason, and that makes me vote against it. | Atrocious?

Lemme rephrase that.
It's obvious to me that the 2nd half contains more skillfully crafted, fully realized albums, while I actually prefer listening to the rougher, more experimental stuff, so I voted for "first half".

2nd Half. I've always preferred their post psych material. Final Cut, and Lapse are great too so...

Piper at the Gates 1*
Saucerful of secrets 2*
More 3*
Ummagumma 2*
Atom Heart Mother 3.5*
Meddle 4.5*
Obscured by Clouds 4.5*
Total 20.5*
Dark Side of the Moon 4*
Wish You Were Here 3.5*
Animals 4.5*
The Wall 3.5*
The Final Cut 1.5*
A Momentary Lapse of Reason 3*
The Division Bell 3.5*
Total 23.5*
So the last 7 have it, largely because I don't like the Syd Barrett psychadelic stuff at all.

Actually equal. When looking at my ranking list and counting the sums of the rankings (the best album gets 1 point, the second best 2, etc.), the first half gets 52 and the second 53 points. So I vote for the first half.

2nd half. A momentary lapse of reason and division bell are my favourites.

Going with the 1st 7. They have a naive, pre-mega-rock star quality I find charming.

Even though there's some amazing material from the second half, the first was best overall.

Objectively, the 2nd half is clearly better, but I enjoy the 1st half more overall, because it's more experimental and let's face it, more modest.
