Topic: Three Brains are better than one Posted: September 17 2013 at 13:30
"Brain and brain, what is brain?" (Star Trek)
"You know what they say, three brains are better than one" (Doctor Three Brains - Word Girl). Well, in PA there are quite a few bands that begin with Brain, so you might think this a not brainy enough poll with only three options, but I have only chosen the three that I have albums by (and I love all three bands).
Brainticket's Psychonaut is my particular fave by the band, and is terrific.
Brainstorm's Second Smile is excellent
Brainchild's album is one of my more recent acquisitions, and is very good too:

Why no votes ?
I don't have any Brainchild although I became aware of them a few months ago. Brainticket and Brainstorm are both incredible bands that are very different from each other. If i had to pick a favourite album from these two it would be Second Smile by Brainstorm but Brainticket have released three excellent albums in fact the two that follow those three are rated very highly as well I just haven't heard them. So I think overall i'll give Brainticket the vote.

Germany's Brainstorm are one of my top five prog bands of all time. They easily get my vote. All of their four releases are stellar and excellent jazz-rock.

I thought you would pick them Doug. Their Second Smile album is a five star recording in my opinion.
I'm going with the "masses" here and voting for Brainticket. I do however prefer the debut. Mad like uncles, but it really works for me in some inexplicable way. I've also recently acquired their two 80s releases, which both oddly enough(especially for the times), feature improvisation and they're actually really damn good.
