^ I'm not a rap fan by any stretch of the imagination but I thought both the song and video were brilliant: as a depiction of the perils of fan obsession and the undocumented travails of the disenfranchised it was very moving.
The only really disturbing aspect of the track is how much Eminem looks uncannily like Nicklas Bendtner of Arsenal FCConfused

That was pretty terrible.  The concept wasn't bad but the delivery was horrible.  This was more like a book on tape than a musical performance.

Generally I think that rappers are so bad ass, they're a right bunch of hemorrhoids.

I've forayed a bit into rap in recent days, even mainstream stuff. Some good things here and there. I certainly like Yeezy now a lot more than I wanted to. Black Thought (emcee of The Roots), Kendrick Lamar, and Chance the Rapper are all pretty great too.

I don't really dig Eminem though. Just my personal feelings toward his music.

I'm not an expert on white rappers or Hip Hop for all that matters but I don't think he could ever come close to The Beastie Boys, in rapping and certainly not musically.

I think it's fair to call him the king of white rappers.........but he's got nothing on say something like this:

What makes him a douche bag?

Well, he made a "song" about him killing his wife/girlfriend Kim. He's also shown arrogance in his persona quite a bit. I will say 8 Mile was a good movie, though, and really showed what a would-be rappers life would be. I say he aint half bad though, he's certainly has matured quite a bit. And I like some of his music. But is he the king of hip/hop? Not even close.

Like I said, I guess that reputation of him built up in my mind without thinking about it. He's still not someone I like, either way

Well he certainly deserves credit for knocking down some doors regarding white folks in rap. This is something that cannot be overstated. So kudos to him for that!

Personally I can't get past more than a couple of his songs before I get irritated with his voice. I find him very samey in his delivery, even if his rhymes are topdollarbilly'all. He simply gets on my nerves.
When I pop on a hip hop album I tend to reach for performers with a little more zing and boom to their voice. People like Busta (his early albums!), Old Dirty b*****d and most of the Wu-Tang boys like GZA and RZA, Q-Tip and to a lesser extent Snoop and Dre. These are all rappers who implement a certain melodic whiff - a natural flair that at times approaches singing (both Busta and ODB can/could really sing!).
