Talking Heads - Remain In Light

Nice list, especially the Genesis, Pink Floyd, and Camel. Don't know if I've heard Yessongs. This is a live album, correct? I can't remember.

It is although the production is a bit sh*t even for a live albumWink

I actually prefer Yesshows with superb renditions of Ritual and Gates Of Delirium.

I like Keys To Ascension a lot, which has great versions of Siberian Khatru, America and Starship Trooper.

Yep great version of America on Keys but I would take Yes Symphonic over Keys personally.

Luckily, you should also get a book of your choice (not including The Bible or whatever) and one luxury item!  But them's the rules!

In the Court of the Crimson King - King Crimson
Kind of Blue - Miles Davis
Music for 18 Musicians - Steve Reich
Selling England By the Pound - Genesis
Mirage - Camel
SMPT:e - Transatlantic
The Smile Sessions - The Beach Boys
Still Life - Van der Graaf Generator
The Sky Moves Sideways - Porcupine Tree
(enormous classical compilation)

Not necessarily in that order. I might have to ditch the Beach Boys in order to get Ravel because I doubt the compilation would have him. Oops, that's ten. I hid two in highly uncomfortable places, so I earned them.

I know. Why don't you start your own thread.'Every single album I might ever want to listen to if I was ever lucky enough to get stuck on an island' Or you could just cut and paste..

Haha dats gold man just gold.
You must be upset I find lots of bands as good or better than PA's big 5(gen, yes, kc, floyd, elp)

Nice you should quote 'Spandaus' .  Shows a diverse interest in music.

Well I posted my 8/9 so you can see all the 'big 5' albums I would take on me island.Wink

Yes - Close to the Edge (my favourite album)
Pink Floyd - Ummagumma (my second favourite PF album, but I'm a bit more in their late 60s sound at the moment)
Discipline - Unfolded Like Staircase (one of my recent favourites)
Hamadryad - Safe in Conformity (a 4-star album for which I have a weak spot)
Maudlin of the Well - Part the Second (something different, #2 in my 21st century top 10)
Big Big Train - English Electric (Part One) (#3 in my 21st century top 10)
Echolyn - s/t (#1 in mu 21st century top 10)
Alejandro Matos - Freak (something different, a 4+-star album with some masterpiece content and a high potential to grow on you)

Can't help it, but I miss Gentle Giant, Van der Graaf Generator, Genesis, Gnidrolog, Magma and Deluge Grander in this list Cry.

All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.

I love both live Yes albums but the Yessongs by association I guess. No doubt YesShows a far superior production, but it was the 70's, crackles, hisses and skips were the order of the daySmile Quality was not a major.
