2000 was a great year for prog albums. It seems that pretty much all the major newer bands released albums during that year. I couldn't list every band I wanted to but I tried to list all the major albums released that year and some that were critically if not commercially successful. I apologize for not including albums by Cafeine, KBB, Kenso, Nathan Mahl and Taal in particular. Tool, Marillion, Pendragon, Djam Karet and YES did not release albums in this year although they did a year earlier or a year later.

I haven't heard nearly all of these, but I'm a sucker for Porcupine Tree. Although Lightbulb Sun isn't my favorite album, compared to the other '00 Prog I've heard, I think I've listened to it the most and will continue to choose to do so.

I voted for White Willow's Sacrament even though I found it quite flawed. The music spoke to me more than anything on this list, although there were quite a few in this poll that I haven't heard, but it doesn't matter as I don't have much interest in newer prog music with the exception of a few bands that I've been following.

I don't see any votes for TFK yet so even though you mentioned them it hasn't been reflected in the poll(not yet anyway ;) ). Space Revolver just might get my vote. I haven't really decided yet.

There's plenty of great albums here, too many to name check. But there's only one place my vote is going - Space Revolver, definitely one of my top 5 albums of all time. Possibly TFK's best.

IQ.
Spock's Beard V is very good too, but The Seventh House is a titan amongst prog albums, with Zero Hour and Guiding Light being two of my all time favourite tracks.

I'm the other way around, although I'll admit to Skinny Fists being the better and more innovative album. For me it's all about taste of the day, and today it says Porcupine Tree. If I had my own pick of albums from 2000, I'd definitely include Ulver - Perdition City Cabezas de Cera - s/t OOIOO - Gold & Green Edited by Guldbamsen - August 28 2014 at 07:27 |

Think I'll have to go for GY!BE, even though that album is very overrated.

Not an impressive list for me, but in Y2K I was not listening to a lot of music. I go symphonic this time. Transatlantic.

I've only heard a handful of these but enjoy GY!BE enough (i.e. a whole lot) to feel comfortable casting my vote in its direction.

I really haven't heard many albums from this year.
My vote goes to Spock's Beard though. Just listened to it yesterday, and it's still fantastic. |
