Does anybody have recommendations for Krautrock with heavy, groovy basslines? Syncopation? I want to hear something like Can but with more funk influence.

Why am I so bland that I've only listened to Can and early Kraftwerk. I feel ashamed.

Not really considered Krautrock (except the first few albums, depending on who you ask), but what you are looking for is the band Kraan.

Ofcourse Funkadelic (= funk + psychedelic).
Mandrill also fits the description. Smak has some funky songs but not so trippy. I like this one very much: Edited by terramystic - August 07 2015 at 06:32 |

Why not? Another similar German band is Guru Guru. |

^ Kraan is a jazz rock group at heart. Krautrock is not bands from Germany but a style of music that revolves around motorik grooves, improvisation, experimentation (to the point of avantguarde), psychedelics and a certain way with electronics.
The closest Kraan ever came was their debut imo, but Krautrock they are not.....just like Jane, Wallenstein, Birth Control, Passport and so forth. Guru Guru on the other hand were an altogether different beast who played around with the borders of rock, jazz and instrumentation. I'd almost call them the archetypical Krautrock band. As for a funky Krautrock release? Frankie Dymon Jr's Let it Out!! Wild and funky with a couple of toes dipped in psychedelic soul. One of my personal faves. |

Well.To me Kraan is funky and groovy jazzy kraut rock.
And they got one hell of a bass player in Hellmut Hattler. They are totally worth a try. They have always been in my top 3 bands. |

You need to check out the Frankie Dymon Jr that Guldbamsen recommended, great record. Electric Orange might work for you because it grooves, but I wouldn't call it funky.

I'd like to recommend the track titled Бетпак Дала ("Betpak Dala") by Дос-Мукасан ("Mwkasan Friends") the band from Kazakh Soviet Socialistic Republic, from 1976.
