...... but I'm afraid I'm not going to Mickey old chap. Through the course of these here polls changes have occurred. Never had gotten into Soft Machine but became to my surprise a great admirer of Hatfield and North. Had always vaguely admired Pete Hammill even though I wasn't a regular listener, now the more of his and VdGG's stuff I hear the less I want to repeat the experience. GG on the other hand had never made much of an impact on me at all. I've not gone right through their catalogue but I've come to quite enjoy Octopus though I must say I prefer Three Friends or even Power and the Glory. Probably somewhat too understated, in many ways a bit thin but fun and stimulating to listen too. I think I'll always like rather than love. Yeti on the other hand moves me not one iota. I've sampled the album in the earlier rounds and tried to give it a full listen for the QF but nah, didn't make it through to the end. I can vaguely see what other's see in it but its not me at all. Back in the day this kind of stuff was great live but forty years on ? I don't think so. Not to forget that if Rotters falls to Pawn Hearts but Octopus slays the Yeti, at least I'll have something to vote for next round. What if it was Yeti v PH ? Jaysus Christo

Yeti is a state of mind... and one I thought I did nail in my review of it.
'Tanz (der Lemminge) is like walking through a haunted house; Yeti is like being chased through one'
It isn't for everyone though I suppose. It is a messy album.. but to me .. it is like life.. and so full of life. Visceral and expressive and with a dark atmosphere so thick you cut it with a f**king knife man.
that is why I love music.. for albums like Yeti. Oh well.. happy.. and surprised.. it made it this far haha

^ I definitely need to replay Yeti. It's a mess for sure, but I always loved the opening suite.

Okay, so I played Yeti on the way to school today. For some reason, I had thought this one had pretty sorry sound quality, but I was actually finding the murkiness part of the draw. The lack of pristine audio quality added to an increased sense of 'ensemble' playing and gave it a really thunderous effect. In other words, I was really diggin' it!!
