Some of you might find this interesting, I recently did an interview with Ian Anderson to promote the reissue of 'Too Old to Rock n Roll, Too Young To Die.

Thanks ......it was interesting if a bit too short.
Would have liked him to talk a bit longer about his thoughts on other bands at that time. I recall my best friend seeing Tull ( I was at college sadly...) in Indianapolis, Indiana with Yes opening up for them in 1970 or 71. he said it was a great show.

Too Old has been overlooked for too long.....if you dig the folksy side of the Tull, then Too Old is right up your alley. It's one of the few post-blues band Tull albums that I can sit thru in one sitting.

Interestingly...Too Old.. is one of the lowest rated Tull albums at 3.06 with 559 votes.
IMHO 3 stars is all it deserves....while there are a few good tracks on it , it is just not a very strong album.

This. My least favorite Tull album of the classic era. I will say "Salamander" and "Taxi Grab" are excellent songs, however.

Sadly i was only given 15 minuites. I did want to ask him if theres any new stuff that he's into, and maybe talk a bit about Jack Bruce (he was about to do a tribute concert). |

That would have been interesting to hear.....I'm a fan of Bruce ...really like all of his musical incarnations. Brilliant bass player and vocalist....probably my favorite bass player regarding all around work.

I think it's an OK album but there are at least five or six Jethro albums I like more.

Nice interview, and I enjoyed the video clips. Anderson always had an affective performing style that never comes across as quite serious yet is done so well. I also find his self-deprecating attitude interesting because it never seems to turn against him (as a similar attitude sometimes does with me). And I think Too Old is a good but not great album, as Ian himself said, somewhere in the middle.

Ditto re the album......it just doesn't quite "cut the mustard" as the lowish overall rating on PA attests to and ditto re "Taxi Grab". "Taxi Grab" should be up there in Tull's top ten songs of all time....and it's a very unTull song....if you know what I mean. You probably don't! Edited by BarryGlibb - November 13 2015 at 00:30 |
