Well I finally got around to listening to all the albums in the poll and found a couple of new favourites in the Franco Leprino and Brave New World albums. I'd have to give the latter a couple more listens to really tune into the Bubu parallels, though I did hear some superficial similarities in the woodwind section just on first listen. Really dug the grooves right from the get go, though. I ended up voting for Leprino, though; really loved the seamless marriage of the abstract electronic atmospheres and pastoral RPI sensibility. Lucifer Rising and Docteur Faust are also pretty great works, and I'll probably return to them in the future, but I suppose that the fact that they didn't leave a lasting impression has more to do with my mood while listening to them than anything. Great poll options all around, though!

Well, I'll be very interested to see if you hear the comparison in Brave New World's "The End" (as posted on the previous page) that I hear to Bubu's "El vjaje de anabelas" in particular.
I do find Docteur Faust and Lucifer Rising terrific, but not sure how you'd feel. I love this (quite evil-sounding and it is not something I'd recommend to many people): |

Only heard three of these - Zanov, Dom, and Clivage.
Out of these three, I didn't really care for Zanov since it didn't seem to have anything really unique or intriguing about it that I couldn't find on dozens of other prog electronic albums, though maybe repeat listens will help me find such a thing. Between Dom and Clivage, Clivage seems like the kind of thing I'd listen to more regularly, but Edge of Time is definitely the album that has made a bigger impression, with its hauntingly trippy soundscapes.
I'll hold out on a vote until I hear the remaining albums. The Bubu comparison with respect to the Brave New World album has particularly piqued my curiosity. |

I don't know if you'll like any of them to be honest -- they're kind of "out there" often tripped-out albums. One is in the Indo-Prog/ Raga Rock category, some are in Progressive Electronic and Krautrock. I happen to be big on Kosmische type music. I would think that Dom and Brave New World would be the easiest listening for most at PA.
My favourite track off the Brave New World (not only Krautrockers, but I think people who like Bubu's Anabelas could love this): |

Thanks for reviving this, though not having Anna Sjalv Tredje's Tussilago Fanfara in the poll seems odd. I might have just missed getting into that album as I was listening to it a lot around that time and it would fit the poll very well.
Any suggestions based on any of these albums would be much appreciated as this is a very "me" list (excuse me in advance if I don't respond to all of the suggestions -- I tend to be on and off the site). Edited by Logan - March 10 2018 at 09:34 |

I was being lazy with my opening post. Hopefully those who don't know the music will discover something they like.
Zanov - Green Ray https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-Bg9E2hY4I Dom- Edge of Time https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqtrueUJmDU Franco Leprino - Integrrati ... Disintegrati https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzxqH1UXXQQ Igor Wakhevitch - Docteur Faust https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHpL_xCQvZg Clivage - Mixtus Orbis https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_QBYaoynkVg Brave New World - Impressions on Reading Aldous Huxley https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8tY--tvCR78 Bobby Beausoleil - Lucifer Rising https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHvpCPhQZ_o {Edited after thread resurrection since I used to post videos in a way that is no longer compatible with the forum software and tries to install shockwave flash objects when you open the thread -- I should have said more in the opening post to make it easier for people to sample the music or, better yet, to describe the albums in my own words for anyone who might be interested. I voted for Mixtus Orbis but it was a damn hard choice. These are some of my alltime favourite albums, so I could just as easily have gone for Docteur Faust, Integrati...Disintegrati or Lucifer Rising. The rest is wonderful as well.
Zanov's Green Ray has been sitting on the shelf for quite a long time now. I think it is about time to revisit the old bugger. (I probably should have done so before dropping my vote, but I tend to work in mysterious ways)

That's a really tough poll I voted for Zanov since it didn't have any vote.

All fine choices, methinks, John. I was anticipating your vote for Lucifer Rising. Long time no chat.
I'm doing quite well, thanks. How are things with you? |

Some fine choices here and I think I'll go with "Lucifer Rising".
