Another extremely sad loss. By heck, I am afraid that we are approaching the age when so many artists we have admired over the years are taken away from us. Nicholls was an important part of Sabbath in that period after Ozzy left. RIP. |

It was kind of skimmed over but Butch Trucks' passing was extremely unfortunate. I'm a big fan of ABB and his drumming on some of their albums is absolutely superb.

It looks like 2017 might compete with 2016 for prog/rock/metal deaths.  Geoff was with Sabbath since 1980! Interestingly, the only Sabbath-related album he seems to not be on is Heaven and Hell's The Devil You Know. This one really hurts. Wetton was a big part of my introduction to prog with Crimson, and, unlike many, I really liked the first couple of Asia albums, and the first couple of reunion albums. I am glad to say I saw him live.
A very sad loss to our musical community. May he rest in peace. |

This is sad news. I just bought tickets to see Journey this summer and Asia (not sure if official Asia or John Payne's Asia) is the opening act. I was hoping that John would be there. A great bass player and one of the better prog voices.
