I notice on FB that "IT Girl" Tara Palmer-Tomkinson has been found dead after being diagnosed with a brain tumour - not a 'music death' granted even though she was (surprisingly) an adequate piano player whose playing revealed a modicum of classical training. However, the drummer of the band I once managed was given free rehearsal space on her father's estate for several years and the guitar, cello and vocals for their debut album (The Failing Light) were recorded in one of his barns, as was the video for 'Ghost in my Emotion' (he is name-checked on the album liner notes).
What?

One day later and I still can't believe John's gone. So that's Squire, Lake and now Wetton, three of the finest bassists and vocalists to appear on some of the finest progressive rock records ever made. Cry

I thought Mr. Wetton was recovering and planning shows.....sigh.  RIP....a life well done.  Simply a nice guy.

Really really terrible news.  I had a hell of a lot of time for John Wetton.  Great vocalist, great bassist and a helluva nice guy too.  Very sad.

This is sad news.  I just bought tickets to see Journey this summer and Asia (not sure if official Asia or John Payne's Asia) is the opening act.  I was hoping that John would be there.  A great bass player and one of the better prog voices.

This one really hurts. Wetton was a big part of my introduction to prog with Crimson, and, unlike many, I really liked the first couple of Asia albums, and the first couple of reunion albums. I am glad to say I saw him live.

A very sad loss to our musical community. May he rest in peace.

Is this some kind of vendetta against ex-KC bass players? Cry

Big fan of Wetton's bass playing - RIP.

Not confirmed by his management as yet, but there are a lot of posts springing up that suggest that John Wetton has left us: http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/rip-john-wetton.645554/. Very sad news indeed if it is true (and I guess it must be). Cry

It looks like 2017 might compete with 2016 for prog/rock/metal deaths. Cry

Geoff was with Sabbath since 1980! Interestingly, the only Sabbath-related album he seems to not be on is Heaven and Hell's The Devil You Know. Geoff also appeared on Ozzy's Down To Earth and Tony Martin's solo albums Back Where I Belong and Scream.
