Drummer led....?
At any rate I went with Bruford because I really like his first two fusion things.

Same here. (And because Brand X is not led by their drummer, even if Phil was on five albums.)

Ummm...you've got the wrong musicians for Spectrum:
I think the set of musicians you listed played on Cobham's Total Eclipse. In any case, Spectrum is an excellent debut.

Good question! I wrongly assumed that Collins led the band in its initial phase at least. No, he didn't. Technically, Brand X should not be in the poll. Unfortunately, I can't amend it now so if you are thinking of voting for Brand X, then think again!

Here's an overlooked band of this ilk - Colisseum. But I only hung on to their For Those About To Die...... album.

The musicians you listed were the ones who played on the studio album "Spectrum". To the best of my knowledge they never toured as an actual band. The musicians I listed were Billy Cobham's actual touring band called "Spectrum". Formed and toured starting around 1974 most were the musicians used on his follow-up album "Crosswinds" (actually most came from the band he was with before he joined the Mahavishnu Orchestra, a band named Dreams). Currently he is touring with his band 'Spectrum 40' honoring the 40 years he's been a solo artist.
