The ex eye is pretty nice. Why on earth there is a digital only bonus track is beyond me. But...I'm a sucker for heavy saxophone lead squonking and this (while not exactly beong that) scratches that itch nicely.

The new Amplifier album is great (best album so far this year)
KingBathmat released a new mini album today. It's nice to see a new release from that favourite group |

^ I got that Yolk on Bandcamp and had a first listen on the way to work this morning. Absolutely stonking! Love it.
Also got the Ex Eye, and so far only listened from iTunes rather than spun the CD on the big rig. Good stuff musically but on a first listen the production is rather horrible and lacking any noticeable dynamic range. |

^ How is that Necks album? I probably have enough Necks albums really, but then again one more couldn't hurt...

Simon + Ian: This is my first foray into The Necks' discography so I have nothing to compare it to, but I was quite surprised to find this etheral, soothing almost akin to progressive electronic music. I am not sure what I was expecting but I am glad I bought it. It's the sort of thing I put on during the blue hour just before the sun drops. Fits perfectly.

Agreed, unfortunately. I've listened to it a few times, and there hasn't been anything that's made me want to return to it. Just feels very uninspired. I checked out the new Cheer-Accident album yesterday and loved it, though. Not a band I've heard before, I'll definitely have to look into their discography.

Favorites for me are Hanging Garden & Drive By but they are remarkably consistent if a bit too similar across the portfolio.

Agreed. So 'normal' and not terribly musically focused. The last two tracks are really the only ones of note IMO. As for Cheer-Accident...I'd recommend Sever Root, Tree Dies and Enduring The American Dream. (Most people will point you towards Fears Draws Misfortune, which should probably be heard, but hasn't really enamored me.)

Haven't heard it, but that description fits pretty well with the majority of their discog that I have heard. Like Ian, I quite like Hanging Garden. But if you enjoy their sound you will probably enjoy nearly everything they've done. (they mine their thing very effectively)

Also if you get to see them live do so, its a trance inducing state of bliss.
