Here in Poland, there are loads of interesting concerts happening. I just miss tons of them, only to find out that for example King Crimson or Sun Araw played in Poland after their concerts. Angry Yeah, The Netherlands seems to have a great "vibrant music scene" to "country size" ratio. Big smile

Well that's a good sign...

Enjoyed this one immensely, as you predicted. I found it extremely organic and fresh-sounding. Excellent album. Will be returning to it soon.

Tymon, really glad you dug this one, man! It was all new to me as well, and it more or less sounded top notch all the day. I think there were a few LP's of it listed on the Discogs for about $25 US, not really too bad a price (I was assuming it was some complete obscurity worth a fortune! ), I'd probably consider getting it (although I'd prefer a nice reissue).

Oh, and yes, that was me posting in that Canterbury FB group! Small world, my friend!

Yeah, it would be great if it got a reissue, but then, the prices on the original ones aren't that bad (19$ for VG+ and 25$ for M).  And there is even one that is "STILL SEALED in the original factory shrink-wrap; guaranteed virgin vinyl inside." for the equivalent of 31$. Nice!

It is a small world indeed! Smile

Mata-Ratos - Rock Radioactivo
Green Windows - No Dia Em Que O Rei Fez Anos (Quarteto 1111 + wives = popiest Pop)
El Páramo - the second self-titled album

Holy sh*t, Sam, scoop out the playlist in my brain with that list!

But do you know, I don't have proper CD's of either the Semiramis or Campo di Marte ones...two titles on that notorious list of about ten classic RPI albums I seriously need to properly get for my collection.

Hey there, guys, sorry for not really being on the forum the last several days. Just flat out at work and having an oddly tough time recovering from my nightshift hours, struggling to get my body clock back to normal, which is odd because I've been doing them on and off for years!

Will be back on here tomorrow, though, business as usual hopefully, be good to catch up on things with you guys.

Oh yeah, he definitely did! And to be frank, I like all Sun Ra eras. You observed well, though. In my mind, 1971 and 1972 were magical years for his music. The hissy recordings of his Egypt concerts (Nidhamu, Dark Myth Equation Visitation, and Horizon (Starwatchers)) are some of my favorites, but I dig Atlantis, Sound of Joy, and The Night of the Purple Moon especially, too. Don't remember Strange Strings very well, though. Many, many different recordings in many different styles from him - studio works, live albums, bootlegs, lost sessions, singles - a good most of them are excellent. Oh and also, NTS Radio has a separate sub-genre called "Sun Ra."

Although the music is much different, I feel like there is a certain similarity between his musical vision and that of (my absolute favorite) Sun Ra in terms of that whole far-off-ness and paradoxically familiar one-of-a-kind-ness, if that makes any sense. Sorry for getting a bit off-topic. Organic Music Society now, Communion later today or tomorrow. Smile

Nice! Hell of a lineup, especially that Cherry disc. Pretty much anything by The Jazz Composer's Orchestra and its members (Carla Bley especially) is worth listening to.

Organic Music Society (which, funnily, features a lengthy track called "Relativity Suite") will be listened to today! Smile Something tells me I will enjoy this one a lot. Recently, I'm in love with Don Cherry's music. It's been a while since I've listened to anything from him and I want to get to know his discography as well as I can now. Which album of his is your favorite? Embarrassed

His four truly great albums are Complete Communion, Symphony For Improvisers, Eternal Rhythm, and Mu, with Communion being his greatest, but I've got a feeling you'd prefer Eternal Rhythm. Perhaps you've already heard all of those, but they're always worth a relisten; I know of no other artist or band that has made four albums with the same extraordinary level of quality (Van Der Graaf Generator has three). I will never refuse an opportunity to rave about the man; he's underappreciated enough in the jazz world.
