Really need help trying to find this song:
Band is possibly UK, definitely 70s. Probably classed as prog fusion/symphonic. It’s the first track off an album. Really lush strings. Vocal has a kind of chorus that ends with “I am a stranger to myself”. (Something something) “I don’t know who I aaaah-m”, “is it really me...”. It starts with a lot of vocals, strings and structure then breaks for a noodly jazzy bit, then all comes back. Goes on for about 6 or 7 minutes. Band name is one word and I think there was another band called the same name but with a slightly different spelling. For years I’ve thought it could have been Colloseum but it’s definitely not. As you might tell from the above I’ve been trying to piece together what this track is for years after I lost it. It’s wrecking my brain! And breaking my heart because it’s such a good track. Any ideas out there? |

Sounds like it might be "I Am A Stranger To My Life" from Byzantium's 1972 album.

My initial thought is 'Stranger to Himself' from Traffic's album John Barleycorn Must Die. Doesn't fit all the OP's criteria, but I'm aware that memory can be a treacherous friend in these matters.

Hoooo! Hugh it’s definitely that Byzantium track.
I cannot thank you enough. They’ve even got it on iTunes. My goodness you’re a saviour. Honestly - a million thanks! |
