Ooh, did you like it, mate? I think it's a pretty easy-to-enjoy listen, if just a little bit `straight'. Today's choices for me: Setna – Guerison Magma – Felicite Thosz Phlox – Vali Electric Orange – Time Signals: 1992-2017 Ishq/Steve Brand – Spiritual Science R.I.P Phil Miller: Matching Mole – s/t Matching Mole - Little Red Record Hatfield and the North – s/t National Health – s/t |

Christ, that's one serious lineup. Even over two days, mere mortals aren't intended to withstand that kind of musical firepower. How'd you take Earth 2? Tortoise - Standards Rachel's - Music For Egon Schiele Nachtluft - Jikan To Kuukan (another obscure but fantastic find)

I'm all new to this drone/noise genre and I'm slowly getting into it. This specific album was strangely soothing. There's something about low-frequency sound that is very pleasing to my brain somehow and I don't know if the drones on this album are low-frequency enough to have a direct effect on the human brain or if it's placebo but I felt what seemed like drug-induced deep relaxation during most of the two longer pieces. I'm not complaining. There are still a few times on the album where I thought that a bass and drums could really improve a certain section but I'm sure I will be sold on this minimalist droning after a few listens. It will be among my favourite ambient works for nighttime listening for the next few weeks. I never thought I'd say that about an album with such an aggressive "metal" guitar tone. Btw thank you for pushing me to delve into post-rock a few weeks ago. I had already checked out the biggest names but for some reason I never got into them except for GY!BE, Swans and Don Caballero. Now I'm loving nearly anything post-rock I hear except for the several copycat bands. I might create a post-rock dedicated thread soon to have some more guidance.
