2 symphonic prog bands.2 excellent female singers,2 dodgy 80ies albums.
Renaissance I am sure will win this ,but let's see how many votes E&F can steal away. Annie Haslam is a better singer, but Jerney Kaagman can hold her own. Just spotted that E&Fs catalog is now on I-Tunes and is listening again after a while. I am a huge fan of E&F and they are in my top 10.Yes,beating most of the grand statesmen of prog. Love Renaissance also ,but Earth & Fire is my vote.

Like both, but Earth & Fire is getting my vote for Song of the Marching Children.

I’m an Earth & Fire fanboy so I’m glad I got to make a small dent in this likely Renaissance landslide.

Oh and I forgot to mention , I saw Earth & Fire warm up for Focus in maybe 74.
Focus was great, but Earth & Fire was better.:)

Hmm, I get the sense that E&F fans are similarly passionate about the band as we Ren fans are about Renaissance. So while what exactly invokes that kind of passion is lost to me, I can certainly relate to the feeling. There's something about rooting strongly for a second tier prog rock band against the biggies.

Renaissance. Earth & Fire were also great, but they were mostly memorable for their singles, which were excellent in the first half of the 1970's, in an unbroken line from Wild and Exciting to Only Time Will Tell. Their albums left me rather cold, but agreed, Song of the Marching Children was pretty good.

When I first heard of the band Earth and Fire a few years ago, I also thought that Wind is missing...
![]() In the meantime I have listened to five albums they have released between 1970 -1977, which are really good! But in a poll vs. Renaissance they do not have a chance. Renaissance for me. |

I think that Song Of The Marching Children is the only masterpiece from Earth & Fire.
Renaissance has several. |

Renaissance easily. I do enjoy E&F's first few albums but rarely listen to them. The title track of "Marching Children" is absolutely stupendous, though, and I have a soft spot for any band with a track called "Tuffy the Cat".
