I prefer any album by the band over the album.

I bought my very first Discipline album recently, "captives of the wine dark sea", and so far have only listened to a little bit of it. It sounds really, really good so far. And this is supposed to be one of their weaker albums? I can't wait for the so called "good stuff" then. :P

I haven't heard much of the band, but what I've heard hasn't made that much of an impression to me. The album is among the very best.

Court, Poseidon, Red, Lizard, Larks.... all have two things in common.
1. They are critically acclaimed
2. They are acclaimed by the Fischman

Discipline has #1 but I can't get into it.

ergo, voted for Discipline the Band.

Discipline was a good album - marred by the two clones LP's that followed it.

Discipline is a band who only release quality.

Sorry, KC.

Not that weird at all. That said, I like weird. I like different. I like playful. When every poll operates like every other poll, and we get a whole host of clone polls with the same acts again and again, it can get very boring indeed. But sometimes it's fun to revisit the usual classics and bring in some new twist. I used to like to mix it up with unusual poll questions (this would also show who was paying attention -- this is Prog School, so pay attention in class and prepare to be schooled!) ;)

Yeah, maybe not so weird after all huh. At least it's interesting. Many polls on here are boring and have predictable outcomes. And it is more fair. If I had Discipline vs KC it would probably not look too good for Discipline. So yeah, this poll isn't what people are used to but I don't think that by itself makes it "weird." LOL. Even if it is I have seen weirder(probably by myself). :P

^ Yesterday it noticed that I used "it's" incorrectly in a sentence despite knowing better. I already had used "it's" properly in the same sentence, and in such cases I'm more likely to makes a mistake using it's instead of its later on in the sentence. I could have edited it, but opted not to -- we may be in Prog school, but this isn't Grammar School.

If one is going to be picky about punctuation, then there also should have been a period after the word "discography", but that's net-speak for you. I would be one to talk, I make punctuation errors and typos often, and I have been accused of excessive punctuation. I say to my critics, "Comma get me if you can, but you'd be better off if you'd just dash off as I'm liable to leave you in braces and left with a semi-colon and dangling participle." I'm a very pacifistic person in truth, and would never sentence a person to such a period of distress or interject in such an adverbial, I mean adversarial, manner.

I might argue that it's fairer to the band Discipline to have its whole discography up against that one King Crimson album (or a reinvention of KC some might say).

I've only heard Unfolded Like Staircase from the band Discipline (before it was moved, it was my favourite album in the Neo-Prog category at PA), so I have only that to compare to KC's Discipline. I've been more interested in revisiting KC's Discipline as it has intrigued me that much more despite it not being a KC favourite -- I do like earlier KC much more.

I could go either way actually, but going with KC.

I agree. Thumbs Up

Voted for the band, really good one.
I rarely listen to the KC album.

Do you also agree that there should be a comma after the d in band's? Wink

I've never been the kind of user that corrects grammar and spelling of others.
The only thing that it's a bit annoying is even native English speakers not knowing how touse "it's" and "its". LOL

What about "to use" instead of touse? Wink LOL

oh crap LOL
