Oh but to also add I would like to know when Yes ever did anything like the second disc of The Inconsolable Secret? That makes the album special for me. Certainly they took on the Yes mantle big time when Jon Davison joined but hey ho..

I tend to think its a lot harder to emulate Yes than Genesis or many other seventies prog bands. Fred Schendel is a great keyboard player and comes up with some really nice riffs while Steve Babb might be surgically attached to his Rickenbacker he's so tight with his playing.
My only slight misgiving is the lack of a real top class drummer . That hole was filled by Matt Mendians but sadly for only 2 albums (The Inconsolable Secret and Culture Of Ascent). Nothing against Aaron Raulston who is a rock solid drummer, but I would liken it to when Andy Edwards joined IQ for the one album. The technical level was just that bit higher.

Check out the live DVD's with Matt Mendians (Live at Belmont and Lex Live) and you will see what I mean.

I didn't realize they were so prolific. I only have three of those albums; Shadowlands, Lex Rex and Inconsolable Secret.

Of those, I guess my first choice would Inconsolable Secret. I'll need to re-listen, but I wasn't inspired, at the time to buy more of their stuff.
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

If (great album - only complaint is that it gets too close to Yes at times)

The Inconsolable Secret
If
Perilous

I have everything apart from some of the earlier albums.

There aren't many albums I don't like , most sitting around 3-4 stars in my estimation.

I do like the latest Dreaming City and that was close to being one of my chosen 3.

Lex Rex, Chronometree and Shadowlands are the albums that got me into then but it was not until The Inconsolable Secret that they had a full time drummer in Matt Mendians although he only lasted until Culture Of Ascent before eventually Aaron Raulston took over the drum stool and has been there ever since.

Valkyrie is also well worth checking out.

I personally love this band, and again on a personal basis they’ve not produced a bad album imho...
Chronometree Love this album it was an instant pleasure to listen to from the first to the last track

I'm not really a fan of theirs, but I like Shadowlands a lot.

I love them! The Inconsolable Secret is my favorite. I prefer the albums with a real drummer though I don't think they've made a bad album.

You may as well vote for your favorite of those since progosopher voted. But that's it. After you everyone else has to play by the rules. Tongue

Normally I might complain about that but since so few people have been voting I won't make a big deal about it. Thanks for your honesty though.
