A short statement...Mourning Knight is a group from the US ( New York) that was started in the 1990s as a vehicle for the compositions and poems of Jason Brower. From the liner notes... "During that decade I experienced a prolific songwriting burst that yielded a wealth of music captured on a tascam 8-track. I've often considered re-recording these tracks "professionally" but the distinct mood and atmosphere of these demos serve as a time capsule of a period of my life when I was writing and recording constantly. The tracks were enhanced in protools with addition of Mellotron strings and choir bringing the recordings closer to what I originally envisioned." Heavily influenced by the atmospheres and musical soundscapes of the Progressive seventies, passion, drama and a sense of the cinematic are brought together with lyrics that convey the darker, melancholy side of life.  With this eponymous album releasing around April 10, 2021 the core members are Jason Brower ( drums, keyboards, vocals, and some bass) and Norm Dodge ( Electric and acoustic guitars and some bass) augmented by vocalist Alisa Amor.

The track listing is
1. Seance on a Wet Afternoon 13:16
2. Playing the Fool  5:07
3. Blood of Martyrs  9:20
4. The Blindman's Window  6:53
5. Inside this Wonderland  13:09

Hahaha That's easy enough. Seriously, I thought I had everything covered so I'm just curious what's missing.

well, to take it strictly seriously Smile ... what I'm missing is the track order for example

also, you're talking about some female vocal support and the open door for other musicians ...
we do need just everything what is necessary to know concerning the album liner notes

and then release date, band picture ... I'm not sure about the album title ...

Thanks Rivertree. I just thought you needed a generic bio and didn't realize you needed the exact album information. Sorry about that. I'll fix it all in the first post. Thanks.

CDs are expected in two weeks or so and I will make the bandcamp page public as soon as I get them. I want to wait until I have CDs in hand. Thanks.

My thoughts on this album.
Seance on a Wet Afternoon:
-Right off the bat, I love how much Genesis influence there is in the music.
-The choice of synth sounds is really tastefully done.
-2:04 The melodic vocal hooks are catchy and that alone elevated the song above other Neo/Sympho songs for me.
-4:32 Bonus points for Mellotron sounds.
-The vocals sometimes sound muddy.
-Some guitar parts lack definition.
-The mix leaves a ton of room for improvement. There's some nasty clipping at times. Hmmm.. was this track originally recorded onto lo-fi tapes?
-5:45 love that breakdown
-5:40 SUPERB synth line!
-7:23 really strong Genesis vibes
-The drumming is really cool, I just wish the kit had been recorded in Stereo. :(
-8:26 nice reprise
-10:42 nice vocalize adlibs, albeit a bit too low in the mix IMHO

Playing the Fool
-Wonderful song.
-0:15 Great ebow-ish wailing guitar part.
-1:05 really good dramatic string part!
-1:50 sweet snare rolls. I think the glaring problem with the drums is that they're kinda undefined, muddy and mono. :(
-3:15 the vocals sound to me like a combo between David Hussey and Lee Jackson which is REALLY fitting for this type of music, nice!
-4:33 Wow! Some guitar shredn!

Blood of Martyrs
-0:10 Finally a major key vamp for a change! xD
-1:09 Oh, some plucky stuff. Tasty.
-1:48 More MELLOTRONS! <3
-2:24 Chimes and amazing guitar lickn. BTW the section reminds me of the Danish band Ache and maybe The Flower Kings a lil bit.
-3:12 Oh, it's all minor suddenly. Nice change of mood.
-4:28 cool woody percussion thing
-4:47 Now we're back to GENESISLAND!
-5:26 Flower Kings esque use of the glockenspiel
-5:47 UNISON BENDS! <3
-7:06 Ok, a neat lil reprise
-7:34 Alan Reed style vocals
-The song is a seamless blend of Symph Prog and Neo which takes a lot of skills to pull off. Noice! Also, I can hear some Prog Italiano vibes, especially during the quieter parts.

The Blindman's Window
-0:06 Nice string machine and piano part, let's see where it goes
-1:37 Whoa! Nice fill!
-2:08 Cool vocal counterpoint in stereo
-2:43 More Genesisms. Very delicious chord progression.
-3:43 Min6 chords? I dunno but the harmonies are goooood.
-4:01 I swear I've heard this lick somewhere else before. I think it was the Israeli band Atmosphera or... was it Supper's Ready?
-4:30 Calm before the rocking storm?
-4:52 Ha! Of course.
-5:40 Again, the lead guitars really shine.
-6:12 Very satisfying ending, I like the use of the vocal reverb on the sustained note.

Inside This Wonderland
-0:00 Birds and butterflies. Hahahah! The stereo fly buzzing by almost got me fooled.
-0:26 Howdy, Mellotron flute!
-0:46 the piano sounds a little off to my ear, it's got that kinda oddly short sustain.
-1:19 Great sawtooth synth, and romantic catchy lead vocal melody as well.
-2:00 Good blend of synth and mellotron strings
-3:06 Nice emotional climax!
-3:26 Echo vocals. Hypnotic!
-4:13 Sweet little synth solo
-4:34 So far, I'm pleased! Also, good mellotron!
-5;00 This part reminds me of IQ's first album.
-5:43 The church organ adds an aetheral flavor.
-6:14 Sad piano. ;_; Very touching vocals.
-7:22 The theme develops further; nice chords.
-7:50 Synth oboe/organ solo? :)
-This song seems to be the most mellow on the album. I like that.
-8:29 VERY 70s guitar!
-8:59 This is soooo good. The string part is smooth as silk.
-10:11 Again, one of this albums bigger strengths is how well the themes are reprised. That's super impressive.
-12:30 I feel like this part elevates the listener to another dimension. Pure uplifting sound! <3
-12:46 The song gets faster and it fades into mellotrons! Brilliant!
-----
The album is very nice. The musicianship thankfully justifies the subpar recording quality! I really love the symphonic touches all over it. I really enjoyed it.
