Odradek Room are a progressive death-doom metal band from Mariupol, Ukraine. The band formed in 2008 under the name Shards of Silence before changing to their current Franz Kafka-inspired moniker in 2010. Odradek Room play an atmospheric form of death-doom, melodic and melancholic with post-rock influences. The ensemble's original lineup was Artyom Krikhtenko (guitars/keyboards/vocals), Ilya Zernitsky (guitars), Sergey Kuznetsov (bass/keyboards) and Roman Borovikov (drums).

Each of Odradek Room's three albums explores a different concept. Their debut LP, Bardo. Relative Reality, was originally independently-released digitally in 2012 but later re-recorded and issued via Hypnotic Dirge (which would also release their sophomore). As described by the band, the record was "based on the ideas of the Tibetan Book of the Dead and surreal images of the subliminal consciousness." Their 2017 follow-up, A Man of Silt, "explores the nature of personality...based on approaches and conceptual understanding of Buddhism...a story about an abstract travel of a human from nothingness to nonexistence, during which he tries to see and understand himself." Borovikov would be replaced by Andrew Shimansky for the LP, and would depart by the time of 2021's Painted Mind, in which Krikhtenko would handle the drum programming. By then the band was reduced to founding members Krikhtenko and Kuznetsov along with new guitarist Vladislav Vyshegorodskikh, with Zernitsky guesting on a guitar solo on the song "Breaching the Soil." Painted Mind "depicts [the] psychological aspect of 'mind obscuring', deconstructing and diving into suppressed states of consciousness."

Odradek Room are compared by their label to mid-period Opeth, later Katatonia, Devin Townsend and Ihsahn, and are also stylistically similar to In the Woods..., the 3rd and the Mortal, In Mourning and the Morningside.

Thanks Cristi.  I've been a little tied up with various other things the last few days.
