Personally I can't stand the piece of nonsense, Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da, Paul McCartney wrote on side one and for for that reason went for side two. The George Harrison song, Piggies, on side two, could also be described as a piece of nonsense, but it's so much better than than that Paul McCartney piece.

My feeling about the White Album is you could take the best tracks and make a single album out of them, those that were good but couldn't fit on a single album could replace the filler tracks on Let It Be, and the dross (especially Revolution 9) should be consigned to the bin.

Your posts rarely make any sense to me but on this occasion I have to ask - what the hell does that mean?

Side 1, although it's a very close call.

Not a huge fan of this album. It could have used some trimming. Side 1 is my fav. Savoy Truffle is my fav track

That's the argument that has been made since the album was released (even by George Martin) but which songs would be included would depend on who you ask. It is the wild eclecticism that makes this collection so popular. After all, "Wild Honey Pie" was included because Patti Harrison liked it. "It's great, it sold, it's the bloody Beatles White Album. Shut up!" Paul McCartney |

Ugh, not allowed to vote in polls yet. But, I would have to say side 4. Cry, Baby Cry is is in my top 3 Beatles songs of all time. Looking at the numbers, I guess I am in the minority.

I rapidly decided back in the early 70s they were not for me. Every one knows my stance on the greatest boy band of all time....but why is this a Prog Poll??

Because they are "Proto Prog" It says so on Prog Archives so it must be true! ![]() Seriously though, I know you're not a big fan but they did have a huge influence on many bands from the 60's , 70's & beyond including a lot of our prog favorites so they should at least get some points for that.

Yes you are! I would have put money on side 4 being the least popular but I thought maybe on a prog forum it would have picked up a few more votes. |

an album can in my opinion be "prog" even if there is technically not a single prog track on it. when an album covers lots of different styles, as the "White Album" definitely does, this makes it a prog album. my favorite side is side 3. I just say "Helter Skelter"

I know Jude is not on White album, BTW Difficult to choose, as I'm not big on WA, but there are more tracks I really like on side A (3 - Gently Back In Ob-la-Di) than on B (1 - rackoon) C (1- Skelter) and D (1 - revolution1) |

Hi, Sorry to say this but you are so full of it. it's sickening. I have been on the Beatles side for the whole time, and am the only person that can relate to "Revolution #9" because folks here (or elsewhere) can only relate to "songs" that they know and have heard! It will be a cold day in heck that I say something bad about them, when together, and I find this album very important, and seriously explains each member's desire to try something else which we see in "Let It Be" (the film) and then the band called it a day and night. But the problem, HERE, is that folks that can not relate to the meanings and situations at the time, will only think of all these things in the album as SONGS and compare them to the ones they know and like. And that means that The BEATLES will look sad and weird and bad, because not enough people can remember, or relate to what the whole thing at the time and place was all about ... on top of it, the same folks don't give a sh*t because for them it's just a song ... and sometimes, the song is not just a song! But you don't get it, do you?

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Nope. I see words and sentences and I get you like the Beatles and you are superior to everyone else because you like Revolution #9 but the rest of it... ![]() And I still don't know what "Today, folks dismiss it ... because all the other bands are catering to their butt." means.
