One of my central guitar influences.  So lucky to have seen him perform.

Incalculable loss.

Jeff was one of the greatest musicians of the last fifty or so years. His is a tremendous loss, indeed.

R.I.P. Jeff Beck

Just saw on FB...

"On behalf of his family, it is with deep and profound sadness that we share the news of Jeff Beck’s passing. After suddenly contracting bacterial meningitis, he peacefully passed away yesterday. His family ask for privacy while they process this tremendous loss."
"Music is much like f**king, but some composers can't climax and others climax too often, leaving themselves and the listener jaded and spent."

I met him briefly when I volunteered at the Progday festival many years ago in North Carolina. He seemed like a nice guy. I was going to have dinner with him but the food was way too expensive for me so I left.

Okay, sounds like his friends & family are taking it slow.

"I remember there were, perhaps, 60 students in this very large room, and Dr. West was trying to feel out the class by playing two notes on the piano and seeing who could name the interval.  At one point in the exercise, a voice shouted out "Dominant seventh… Hendrix!", and it was Stan [Whittaker].  I made sure I met the skinny guy with long hair, and we became close friends right away."
-- Frank Wyatt, 1973

Rest in Peace, Frank

Go to the first (main page) of the progressive ears website. It was mentioned on there and a whole bunch of people have already posted expressing their sadness. It's also mentioned on the HTM facebook page.

As an adult i am utterly indifferent to football/ soccer, in fact most sport, but as child.. ahh. Pele was something quite mythical along with George Best and Billy Bremner. RIP Pele and your overhead 'bicycle kick'!!
