I like some Metallica, but DT leave me completely cold. Great musicians, but they make prog by numbers and it's terribly boring.
For me, Riverside wipe the floor with them.

Dream Theater... if only for Metropolis Part 2 they should win. Although they are a little repetitious and boring today.

Both have some stellar albums, some weaker albums and have come back stronger on the last couple of releases.
