My vote is no. I subscribe to a music streaming service and only buy if there is music that's not on the service or if I really enjoy the album. I also mainly listen to music through streaming for the convenience, but there are favorites that I would want to have on CD. I don't see that happening for this album.

Probably eventually but not right away. I haven't listened to it and I'm not enough curious to do so in a short time.

Yes. Unlike most of the rest of you, Yes has never disappointed me.

I have to admit I was really disappointed by the track "all connected." It's 9 minutes long when it should have been no more than three. Just a really boring track imo.

You have been following Yes for the past 50 years, but Howe is the only member now who was in the band 50 years ago. Downs was there for a year in 1980. Then Sherwood was in and out for the past 30. But if you consider the current core group as Howe, Downes, Davison, and Sherwood, that's less than 10 years and just 2 albums together. Even for Heaven and Earth. Sherwood was an engineer and backing vocals, not a band member. Downs admits to searching old tapes for ideas, which lead to a bit of controversy on The Quest. Really don't think that this current group has had, or ever will have, a prime to be past. Personally, it's more important to support new artists trying to reach their prime. Just my opinion. Maybe I'll buy the new one just for the cover.

The sensible thing to do is to listen to it first (on a streaming service like Spotify) and then decide yes or no. So I can only answer this as Maybe. Price is also a factor in the decision process. Yes is no longer a "buy without hearing it" band for me.

Absolutely yes ! I agree, their last few have been disappointing, but I've been following them for 50 years, and it's important to support artists even when they may be past their prime. Hope springs eternal that they've got some interesting music left in them.

I'd buy any YES album, including Open Your Eyes, if only for the novelty value.

^EDIT: I see you go in 10 seconds sooner. Kindly disregard this post.
Or maybe just modern Yes or what he knows of this album. I like some Yes and some periods of Yes and dislike others (as with many bands). I'd accept vinyl copy, CD, official cassette tape, 8-track (whatever) for free happily. Then I might give it away to someone who I thought would like it. Or one could see it, but I rarely sell stuff (only thing other my services of mine that I ever sold was an Audi. It was my Howdy Audi). I like lots of classic Yes (Fragile was one of my first Prog loves), but I can't think of anything that I really have liked much by Yes since then. What I heard of this new album I found incredibly dull, and Yes formulaic. Edited by Logan - May 16 2023 at 14:53 |

Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.
