Cheeky butt that's something I can get behind.
Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.

I remember that at the time my favourite record shop had a monthly newsletter, and each time it featured an album of the month. I don't think they were generally prog oriented; many of these albums were new wave and what was "hot" at the time, but if I remember correctly, from this list they had My Life in the Bush of Ghosts and one of the YMO albums, and (that's why I tell you Wink) they had Nude. They did have great taste.

I love many of these albums. I voted for Los Jaivas, but Rush, King Crimson, SBB, etc, are quite fantastic.

Very interesting list... Back in the 80s I would have chosen Eloy or Rush, nowadays I'm more leaning towards Penguin Cafe Orchestra and Art Zoyd. I still like my first loves, so for my vote I'll do some eclectic mix: Eloy, Eno & Byrne and Art Zoyd.

I would have voted for Art Zoyd if I didn't find this 1981 re-recording almost identical to their debut. I might actually have a slight preference for this, but it doesn't feel equally essential as an unique one-of-a-kind recording does.

^ I must admit that I've never heard the original recording, so I couldn't judge. And when you say it is almost identical, I probably won't have to look for it - I'm very happy with my vinyl of the re-recording!

Nude would easily get my vote if there, but in its absence, I have to consider Time, Planets, Moving Pictures and Alturas de Machu Pichu, which are all very good.
I guess it has to be Moving Pictures.

How seriously can I take a "Top 25 1981" poll that doesn't include Saga's Worlds Apart?

PASS!

It’s not in Prog Archives top 25 chart either. I just can’t take the universe seriously anymore.

Honestly it's my fault. I checked and they should have been here. At the 20th spot. I seemingly make one mistake for every poll I make. World's Apart was this one's.

I never truly warmed up to any of the AOR/Prog-rock bands myself, but I suppose I understand the attraction. I seemingly prefer both Prog and AOR in a "purer" form, and not so much in combination.

Even the weakest of the three Art Bears albums gets my vote.  That Art Zoyd album is a re-recording of their 76 debut.  At the time, I bought 'Discipline' but never really warmed to it.
