This thread is dedicated to new releases by the Japanese drone metal band Boris - since they release like two albums every year, this thread will constantly be updated :)

I'll work on a submission for them to be added to the archives once my current one for Avatar is done with, and I do the one for Avenged Sevenfold, too. But for now, I'll keep this under general music discussion - hopefully it can be moved to progressive lounge later on.

Nevertheless, on June 16th, 2023, Boris will be releasing a collaboration album with American industrial metal band, Uniform. It will be called "Bright New Disease." Listening to the singles, I think it's going to be great! It sounds like it's going to be very hardcore punk based, in a similar vein to NO, but with industrial metal elements as well. Of course the drone metal is there, as well, as per all their releases.

^I've always thought Boris deserved a place here, and I recall they were gaining traction to be evaluated again before falling through the cracks. I certainly won't be upset if someone other than me provides a bio.

Really surprised that Boris aren't already here. I guess it's not the music, but the laborious admission process that is slowing things down. Anyways, added the new release here: https://tagyourmusic.org/releases/63945

Boris are an interesting case that makes me wonder: How to deal with collaborations? This applies to PA as well as TYM. For example, Boris did many collaborations with Merzbow. Should those be considered part of the Boris discography as far as progressiveness is concerned? If only those are progressive (not saying they are, just for the sake of argument), should a separate artist entry be created for them (Boris & Merzbow)?
