Yeah, they definetly got a Porcupine Tree/Opeth-feel to them.

Seemed a little more than a feel to me, even down to specific guitar licks combined with chord structures. Not a rip-off, but certainly a very strong influence.

I have read that post.... it's a very new band and I've got basically no information for bio, other than one member in the band... I tried posting a picture, but for whatever reason it never worked, even though I tried scaling down the size of the picture multiple times. I did however post band name, possible genre, links to their website, interview, Facebook page and what little I could provide to a possible bio.

AVKRVST (pronounced Awcrust) is a progressive metal band from Oslo, Norway, which was formed by two childhood musicians and friends - Martin Utby (composer, drummer and synths) and Simon Bergseth (composer, guitars, bass and vocals) - who grew up together and made a pact at the age of seven that they would form a band when they got older. Twenty two years after their childhood pact, the duo's vision was finally realized with the release of the debut single 'The Pale Moon' in March 2023, followed in June of that year by the concept album 'The Approbation', about a bleak soul who is left isolated in a cabin deep in the dark forests, far away from civilization, and solely with his thoughts. 'The Approbation' consists of 49 minutes of music, and takes the listener though the thoughts of a man struggling towards the acceptance of death and being hauled into the abyss. It was written and recorded by Martin and Simon at a secluded cabin in Alvdal (Norway) during a rainy, cold fall and winter, and was inspired by everything the two band founders grew up listening to - everything from Mew, Anekdoten and Porcupine Tree to Opeth, Neal Morse and King Crimson. They were later joined by Øystein Aadland on bass and keys, Edvard Seim on guitars and Auver Gaaren on keys, and played their first gig at We Låve Rock Festival 2023 on 26th May 2023 alongside several long-established progressive rock bands such as Pendragon and The Flower Kings. It is expected that the writing of a second album will begin at the same secluded cabin in Alvdal in August 2023. Strong stuff. I'm hearing obvious influences, but most debuts start out that way.

It's really interesting that InsideOut decided to sign a totally unknown band that didn't even have any recorded music at that point. They took a leap of faith and made a great decision IMO.

^ Out of the 163 releases of 2023 that I've heard so far, this ranks at #118 ... not bad for a debut.
