Let's start at (or near) the beginning (of prog) ... what are your favourite releases of 1968?

I don't have too many - the 60s are not normally something I revisit, but undoubtedly there are some really awesome releases there, waiting to be discovered.

I'd be glad if you used the polls at AP to submit your list (link below), but if not, just post your list here and I'll add it to the combined result.

So here's the link:

And here's my favourite releases of 1968 so far:
1album cover
Jimi Hendrix
Electric Ladyland
Supreme Freeform Classic Non-Prog Rock
2album cover
Awesome Prog Rock
3album cover
The Beatles
The White Album
Great Creative Classic Prog-Adj Pop/Rock
4album cover
Great Symph Classic Prog Rock

Having a go. I could not find Dr. John in AP so added the artists plus two of the albums, including the fantastic Gris-Gris (was surprised that had not been added; such a classic). I also noticed that only one Nico album had been added, and I added The Marble Index, which I think is terrific. Neither of these acts are in PA but I definitely consider them relevant and progressive. Anyway....

My ranked favorites of 1968

1. Nico - The Marble Index [AP]
2. Family - Music In A Doll's House [SPO]
3. The United States Of America - The United States Of America [SPO]
4. David Axelrod - Song of Innocence [SPO]
5. The Incredible String Band - The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter
6. Pink Floyd - A Saucerful of Secrets [SPO]
7. Dr. John - Gris-Gris [AP]
8. The Pentangle - Sweet Child
9. Scott Walker - Scott 2
10. Fifty Foot Hose - Cauldron [BC] [SPO]
11. Terje Rypdal & Minbul - Bleak House [SPO]
12. The Doors - Waiting For The Sun
13. The Pentangle - The Pentangle [SPO]
14. Terry Riley - In C
15. The Soft Machine - The Soft Machine [SPO]
16. The Pretty Things - S.f. Sorrow

^ Thanks Steve. It's much appreciated. Those are mighty fine albums. Not going to push it or promote it again, but I am someone who has felt strongly that Cream is worthy of a place in PA.

^ Gp\ood stuff. I haven't heard all of those. I really like Silver Apples, Os Mutantes and the Velvet Underground. I was going to add Silver Apples as I list as 1968, but AwesomeProg has it as 1969. And I meant to add that Velvet Underground album to Mike's site for the list as I did not see it there, but then promptly forgot lol. That Moody Blues I really must properly return to -- such a significant album that I have neglected. Well all, or most of us, have our blind spots.

^ Nice! Fixed the Magical Mystery tour release. Could you export the list again and copy it to your post? I needed to fix something in the release links that's needed for the counting to work correctly. Sorry for the inconvenience!
