Xing Sa-Creation De l'Univers
Frogg Cafe-Bateless Edge
Stick Men-Soup
The Rebel Wheel-We Are In The Time Of Evil Clocks
Beyond O Matic-Time To Get Up
Anathema-We're Here because We're Here
Invisible Opera Company Of Tibet-UFO Planante
Djam Karet-Heavy Soul Sessions
Hawkwind-Blood Of The Earth
Pineapple Thief-Someone Here Is Missing

I liked Grumpy's Helmet Of Gnats pick. I always forget about that great band.

I like your top two, and I have enjoyed Invisible Opera before. 2010 has not been one of my favoured years, and I wanted this year partially because it might be a little less acclaimed (2016 is, for instance, a super strong year for me, and so is 1996). That said, over the past few years 2010 definitely is a more important year to me. For my "alternative" or wacky tastes, my top ten is awesome.

I adore those Sufjan Stevens releases and Joanna Newsom releases (I found them to be very comparable artists in various ways) and Kayo Dot's is I think great. The Swans is not highly acclaimed but I have grown to love that one more and more (and of course Swans is one of my very favourite bands). I think that Deerhunter, Sundfor and Shibusashirazu is very good etc. I really love Beach House. Although Teen Dream has not connected with me as much as some others like Bloom or Once Twice Melody (needs more time and spins), it has been a very important band to me over the past two years. UZ's Clivages was my album of the year back in 2010, but does not hold as much appeal any more. I'd like a new Univers Zero release that is more "modern classical" so to speak, more like the debut. Or maybe UZ would team up with DT to form some kind of supergroup, that would be a change and could be genuinely interesting.

Just from my perspective (a perspective), I can honestly say that I love every year for various releases that I really care about from the late 50s up (no weak years for me, just some years I know and like more from, and I know if I put in the effort that I can find considerably more to love from any of those years). But that doesn't mean I don't have preferred years. It's more like I don't need quantity if I can find enough quality for my tastes and every one of those years has great quality from my perspective and per my interests. And I expect to become interested and more interested in more artistic avenues as I experience more. Of course I know what you mean, and I am just waxing, not poetic, maybe Brazilian hot?

Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.
