BBT is more symphonic prog than neo-prog. They're more retro-prog, 70s worship than neo-prog bands ever were.

IQ's debut album was even more symphonic arguably. ''Retro-prog'' ( a term I hate with a passion) would apply more obviously to Wobbler or LFF I think who are nothing like BBT to my ears. The way the music is recorded makes a big difference.

I can't say I disagree here.
I do not user the term "retro-prog" în a derogatory manner.

Most contemporary "RPI" bands are basically just retro-prog but with Italian language lyrics. They don't necessarily have the rich textured sophistication that characterizes the true (1st wave) 70s "RPI" formations such as PFM, Banco, Il Balletto di Bronzo etc.

In an alternate universe, if The Watch chose to use native Italian lyrics as opposed to English, and didn't do the whole Genesis cover band during 2nd shifts shtick, I can guarentee that they'd be lumped into the RPI bin.
