Same here. So I do what I can with the old drum machines and a keyboard with “drums” . We know a drummer nearby but his ego is such that he’d insist on naming the band after him. Extremely difficult to get along with. Aah well. I won’t do it if it isn’t fun. |

Hi, One of the hardest things to learn in acting, and then in meditation is one thinking that they have to be like, or sound like or create like. YOU DON'T have to feel that ... and within a mediation, improvisational stand point, it only suggests that you don't think yo can do something good enough compared to the idea that you have in mind ... and as you meditate and learn more about the inner ... anything ... you will find that the confusion and inability to create it has more to do with your own desire to do one thing, but is being interfered with something else. The crossing of internal and external ideas, has a tendency to prevent us from even trying something ... different. And I'm not sure that this can improve if you don't learn to ride the bike like a child did ... and learning to interpret your OWN SIGNALS, rather than associate them with know this on that in music and other examples out there. You have to compare it to yourself only, not the idea! And that is not easy! The idea is a near impossibility because it is an idea, not a reality that you can try and reach. The other side is learning to identify and "play" your own signals, and that gets easier as time goes by and you do more! I think, don't quote me on this (!!!), that you kinda have to go back to being a child and have fun just hitting things, or find out ... wow ... that sound is neat ... and then you next start following that feeling ... not what it would sound like if Edgar Froese, or Klaus Schulze, or Vangelis played them. Myself, have always had a thing for keyboards and I want so badly to goof around with sounds that ae similar to those three ... but all it tells me, is that their "sounds" have created an image within me, that I can not copy, and I have to create my own image ... that's not a problem ... the only issue I have is getting by and learning a DAW well enough to be able to do something, but to this day I have not had a good time with any DAW, and can't find anyone to help me with it. And sadly, the musical design and ideas are not quite compatible with computers yet, and it will be a few years still until they do better so that instruments and computers are not a problem that takes some high tech person to work on ... and sound cards on computers have never taken to "mixing" at all ... though the M-Audio LT10 was really good at it, but then M-Audio probably got a lot of flak and they never learned how to do drivers for W10 and beyond ... a great sound card ... totally wasted, and it was simple and I could mix things directly with it. Hi,
Not that it matters much, but I reviewed the last album ... and it's posted on PA now. Enjoyed it a lot, and played it multiple times. Sad to see the band go! ... Must be another pandemic in Walla Walla courtesy of those onions! Or the asparagus! Edited by moshkito - July 01 2025 at 13:31 |

Thank You Mosh, 100 degrees here in Onionville. (Now Wineville). Thanks for the review it is much appreciated. It takes a few listens to get the irregular format and vibe, I know. I grow Walla Walla sweets in the backyard, among other things. But to be honest I prefer a hot Los Angeles onion lol. BTW That Miley song starts to get its legs at about 3:20 or so. ![]() |

Hi, I have a tendency to not "judge" other musicians like Miley, Taylor, Lorde, Beyonce and those that are listed in pop music as important. I don't think that any of them, would be where they are, if they had not heard, or listened to other stuff around the world. And because I got to experience 3 different cultures in a few years (Portugal, Brazil and then USA), I have a much more "irregular" listening ability than most ... Portuguese music (like Fado and such) is boring for me, and Portugal, has not been at the front of a lot of arts at all, mostly because that _____government pretty much made sure that all artists were shut down quickly, or sensored so badly that they ended up not being read. My own father, if you did/look for it, had a lot of his theater and film reviews censored and published cut up to try and embarrass him (available in English I think) but no one was going to criticize Olivier, Brando and a lot of others out there, so in the end, the government is the one that looks stupid as opposed to Spain that pulled the gun on many of the artists and writers. Brazil is much more "independent" even though its influences from Africa are quite clear ... and that only speaks for its history and how many "slaves" were brought to the new land ... a lot, to the point that it added to its artistic history quite early, probably 300 to 400 years ago. America, destroyed all its creative and "different" folks and its history of what happened to the Native Americans is horrendous but one segment of the population was not the only one that did so, the other folks stealing the land that had been given to foreigners that volunteered to come to the far west of the country, was another extermination example that has been told in some movies that the media has made sure they were trashed, as a way to keep more of American history hidden from the public. It's almost an incredible something or other that the Black history and some related stuff made it through, but these days, it is being hidden and taken out of schools to ensure that folks never know the ugly side of the history, which is from all the well to do rich folks that ruled America from day one! The sidebar on that is that music, and the arts, are very different for me, regardless of where they come from, and their difference is something I like and appreciate, instead of thinking ... that's not music, and doesn't belong here ... kind of thing. Thus, listening to the first time, is not an issue for me and it does not define my ability to listen to it again ... in the case of Bakullama's album, I had decided to hear it again before I even got to the end of the album, thankful that BC did not cut me off, which is a problem these days for someone that can't afford to pay for it, and thus, a lot more music is not heard or appreciated properly, as is the case in many lists here on PA and half the BC stuff I can not listen to beyond one song. so for me, I have decided that the band is not interested in a decent review of the work, and I say ... screw them. I have been at this game long enough to know when the folks are honest or when they are the children of the ............. so I leave a few behind. I'm glad to see Miley do something like that, and it makes sense ... she has rebelled against a lot of the pop crap stuff and continues to do so, and I think that she will end up doing really well because of it, despite some music recording companies not being happy with it, but the sales make it ... another story. Same for Taylor, now that she owns her own catalogue and continue with it, it probably is going to make a huge difference sooner or later, if folks start taking stock in their work, instead of giving it away. In Miley's case, you don't go pretty much naked without a good reason to do so, and I think that it made a very powerful point, that some folks didn't like, but the distribution side of the CD's, albums and downloads, is too big for the record company to worry about complaints, and it is just like 30 years ago with the rap stuff ... lots of dislike and bad publicity, and in the end, who was supporting the majority of those labels ... yep! But no one was going to say anything or suggest that, because there was too much money going around ... and you don't stop the fountain if possible. It's not like Oregon where some folks we knew, intentionally dug out some springs on the mountains behind my mom's place, so they could log it a year later and the state didn't care or notice that there was a hole over there that was filled. I'm pretty happy seeing Miley get off with power stuff ... Sag folks (she's Nov 23rd ... I'm Nov 22) are known to be rebellious, and eventually get things done. Taylor I'm not sure how it's going to go. Others, it's still in the make sure it stays the same kind of thing, and that's not to say that Beyonce is not good. Or Taylor os anyone else ... I'm just not seriously screwed up to think that just because I have been into progressive music for 60 years, I can't enjoy and appreciate anything else. That thought alone is revolting! |

Yes at Bandcamp the artist can set a limit on free plays. I’ve set it at 5 free plays but I I’ve decided to set it for unlimited free plays. I don’t really need the money that bad and I’d rather people were able to hear it especially if they are broke or, let’s face it, never actually BUY music. Hardly anyone needs to buy music to hear it anymore. I still buy music because I’m somewhat of a collector… and a re-seller of vinyl. My hobbies.

Hi, Let's see ... my monthly is $1800 and my rent is $1100 ... and that leaves me with the rest for the whole month! I have not bought much of anything for 3 years now, and have to worry about losing 2 computers in a couple of months (W11!!!) ... and likely end my Internet career just to save a couple of doodles! A few folks here, would love to see me go, I'm sure ... Edited by moshkito - July 03 2025 at 14:17 |
