Hi, Let me tell you that if you have to move when you are 74, you will regret having all those CD's ... it was ONLY 14 more boxes for me (12x12x12) ... and while not as heavy as the music, the amount of time was a problem ... and I have to put the CD racks back together ... could not move them otherwise. I'm likely going to make sure I have as many CD's as possible as MP3's (for example) so I can fit them on my backup external drive, for example. I had the bad thought that while you were gone, the Sunshine or Purple Haze was too good, and you had to stop for a couple of days ... I have to tell you that way back when I had to stop for a day or two just to catch up! ![]() ![]() |

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

^ I had to move when I was 58, but I "only" had 2,000 CD's back then. It was moving my books where some heavy lifting was needed, when a fork lift truck would have come in handy.

Interesting . I find that I buy a lot less now that I can properly vet albums before buying. With favourite bands I don't need to but so many albums just don't really stand up after 5 listens. Reviews and ratings can be very misleading as well. Ultimately streaming is a great tool for getting you where you need to be. I regret buying about 50% of my CD collection and that probably equates to about 1500 CD's and an associated cost of maybe £10,000 to £15,000 ![]() |

I can only think of one CD in recent times that I've regretted buying and that was James Last Plays ABBA. ![]() |

Holy krapp!!! ![]() Hopefully they've held at least 50% value, I only buy used CDs for 2-3 bucks. I have not bought a new CD in probably 20 years. |

TBH, via YT (a bit) and Bandcamp (a lot) for the last decade or so, I listen carefully dozens of time before ordering, which means that I order much less, but with an excellent enjoyèment rate. I can also say that I have some 40% of albums that are not really necessary to my collection (very roughly 2 to 4000), because I didn't get to sample deeply enough in the three previous decades. |

let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter keep our sand-castle virtues content to be a doer as well as a thinker, prefer lifting our pen rather than un-sheath our sword |
