Curious what the Canterbury Scene fans think of these new releases. Worth the expense? I love Caravan but....this is expensive stuff:

I voluntarily missed out on the Who Do You boxset, because too expensive, filled with 80's/90's/00's/10's albums and live recordings and missing narrowly the Montreux film footage.

Curious what this one can bring new for 1/2 the price for the smaller set not sure it's on cD).

let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter
keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer
as well as a thinker,
prefer lifting our pen
rather than un-sheath our sword

Hi,

I don't understand how/why so many things can be released for such a high price. I can't even look at them ... and though I enjoy the band and much of its work, some of the things listed in there, I'm not sure they are worth it.

Caravan has done a lot of wonderful things, but the stuff that is listed in the 21st century (for example) has a few moments, but all in all it is not special and really does not even compare to the earlier material.

I don't have an issue with an artist wanting to continue and keep trying, and I think they have the right to do so, but somehow, somewhere, it looks like folks are merely scratching the hope and idea, that the band can rekindle a bit of its magic ... and I'm not sure that it can ... magic also has to do with the time and the place, and in all honesty, it feels like it's now just a bunch of left over songs, even though some parts are nice.

But I'm not sure there is a need for the expansive thing, unless folks in/within/around the band are just trying to cash in on stuff that was in the closet before the rest of it disappears into nowhere land.

Either that, or we can think of some of these things as the band's bagatelles. Well, Beethoven did it, so why not Caravan?

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!
