Ahh, I thought Kraftwerk here. Two of your top three have enough mellotron to sink a ship.

I remember the Zappa influence. And Rikard is not only of course here with his band Beardfish, but he was part of Big Big Train's Folklore alum that's on this poll. He gets around.

I should like Transatlantic but sadly I don't. It's not that I don't like their individual projects/groups ( I really do) but I just couldn't connect to their music for some reason. Lifesigns was altogether a better 'Supergroup' for me and I love their 3 albums but that one is never talked about.

So glad to see your vote for this one. Possibly my favourite album from Yugoslavia.

I had to look up Lifesigns but I'm glad I did. They got by me.

Could be my top two as well. I wanted to vote for Panzerpappa but One Shot is a huge favourite of mine.

Really glad to see Beardfish doing so well here. And sad to see the Italians without a vote.

Nice to see Hidden Details mentioned at least. I liked that one a lot. Will it be their last? But Knirsch is the real deal.

I saw Soft Machine live when Hidden Details came out (actually the only time I saw them). Very good album and a pity that it doesn't have votes. They released another album in 2023, Other Doors, which I didn't like quite as much. I just saw that you reviewed it at the time.
I make typos so you see I'm not a machine, but I may be a machine pretending to not be a machine.

^ Just to echo that. I have voted for Soft Machine and anyone should go and see them live while they are still active. I have seen them live three times over the last few years and they are excellent.

For me nothing here comes close to:

Morte Macabre-Symphonic Holocaust &
Kraftwerk-Trans-Europe Express

-but they come close to each other.

No vote just yet.

I am at the age where I need to check my facts more, my memory is not so good. Yes! "Other Doors" was their most recent after "Hidden Details" thanks! I'm still so impressed that John Marshall was drumming professionally into his eighties.

I am jealous of you. Such a legendary band who of course features a much different lineup than their 70's output. I for one am glad they went into more of a jazz direction with Seven, Bundles and Softs.

I am guilty of never picking up Trans Europa or Man Machine. Maybe I need to read some reviews for those.

^Both essential in the history of modern music imo (and not just in my opinion). I don't understand people - at least people into music at all - who doesn't love this.
