Miles Davis - Kind Of Blue
It's a wonderful album but it a rather obvious nonsense in a prog top 100
Otherwise any Opeth or Dream Theater

Is it bad for me to say that this kind of question makes me feel like a kid in a candy shop?
Most obvious removal; Miles Davis cause while he was an incredibly important artist he is far too much pure Jazz and too little rock to be allowed in PA.
What do I want removed; hmm choices...Tool...Misplaced Childhood for constantly reminding me of Invisible Touch . I might as well go for the most shocking and scandalous answer which is... Wish You Were Here. I rated that album and then reviewed it so it would not appear on the front page of PA and I get hate mail lol. But yeah while DSOTM and Animals are masterpieces WYWH is one of the most uninspired, unfocused and disjointed albums in the top 100 (gave it 2 stars). I await the firing squad

Pretty much sums it up for me.
The rest I don't mind at all. People rate their favourites and most of the time these favourites will be household names/classics with a particular 'sound' to them. Nothing wrong with that, although it does make for a rather predictable list.

I don't know. There are a few candidates. Larks' Tongues in Aspic, Hand.Cannot.Erase or Ommadawn, I think, since I did not find King Crimson's Discipline in the list.
Not that these albums are too bad, but LTiA and Ommadawn don't stand tall above their contemporaries (Ommadawn part one is a masterpiece, but part 2 is crap) and Hand.Cannot.Erase will, as I expect, not withstand the tooth of time.

Most of the prog metal stuff, it seems to me it does not really match up with the older, classic albums in prog history.

I suppose the two obvious ones are the Miles Davis albums ...already pointed out. I don't think Elegant Gypsy by Dimeola deserves to be on the top 100 nor Queensryche Mindcrime.

My two cents: Not to be provocative or stir things up, but I would change the list's criteria and separate current/modern prog from the 70s era. As a younger listener, I just don't relate to the pioneer stuff like I do artists such as Steven Wilson, Haken, Rush, etc.

Rush released their first LP in 1974. In any event, there's no need to change the main list. If you want to see a list of top rated albums from a more limited period this is easily achieved using the filter options on the Top 100 page, so that you could see e.g. the top rated albums released from 2000 to 2016 only.

All stuff by Miles Davis great but in the wrong list. I can't see what Opeth, Dream Theater and pain of Salvation are doing here. Everything by Steven Wilson solo or not. That IQ Album, it is not even IQs best...

Oh no, all the floodgate of intolerance seem to have been opened ... There are a lot of albums I don't particularly care for in the top 100, but if other people like them, why should they be removed? Kind of Blue (a masterpiece) is a different case, because it belongs to a different genre. It's like having Beethoven's symphonies or some opera in the Top 100 prog albums - no reflection on quality whatsoever.

O/T but I was surprised (and pleased) to see Kayo Dot in the top 100 (Choirs)! Admittedly, in at #100.

pfff... I LOVE the way he thinks... The only regret I've ever had of my time at PA's was getting fired from the Neo-Prog team before I was able to delete all those bands and albums from the database I should have waited at least a couple hours after being accepted onto the team before making my intentions known... though hey.. I did get the record for shortest ever term on a genre team here. 2 hours...

Whatever I think shouldn't be there is all a matter of personal tastes. Obviously the vox populi believes that these albums are deserving of acclaim, and if they are albums I dislike then I'm perfectly fine being in a minority. I leave my reviews to explain what I have problems with, not blanket statements on genres or specific albums.
Just my opinion.

For me, all neo-prog albums shouldn't be there, not because i don't like newer prog albums(exists some newer albums that are much better than those high in the list on the genre that they are in), but IQ, Marillion and other's neo-prog bands don't have the Progression that it's in the name of the style, the majority of the albums sound the same, the style is poor(in the sense that there's nothing good differentiating it from the other styles, the only thing that i can think is that neo-prog is more simple and 'mechanical'), so yeah, i'm MY opinion these albums in neo-prog category shouldn't be in 100's list.
