Given that, generally, the commercial stuff is on the first 2 sides and the weirder stuff on sides 3 and 4, I'm intrigued to know which one will come out on top here.

Me? I would probably go for side two.

I overplayed it years ago, in fact I rarely listen to the Beatles these days.
Maybe I'll give this album a listen, when I'm in the mood. Smile

Good tracks scattered through most of it although I don't dig side four too much.
Voted for side one

Side one I enjoy the most consistently, but there are good tracks throughout.

Played it a few times, but rapidly decided it wasn't for me.
One or two good tracks, but mostly very average.
Not a Beatles fan, as you might have guessed.

For some reason, I enjoyed it more back in 1968. So, side 1 only.

Not sure, really, but my favourite Beatles song is While My Guitar Gently Weeps... so I guess whichever side that song is in.

Side One, but it is a close call.

I could have marked "No Preference" quite easily.  There is excellent material throughout this recording, including two of my favorite Harrison songs.  I'm normally a McCartney/Lennon guy, "Savoy Truffle" and "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" are awesome though.
But the question was to choose a side, and I chose Side 3.  ROCK n' ROLL baby!

It's turning out much the way I thought it might - side one winning and side four bringing up the rear - though I kind of expected side two to beat side three.

No preference as it remains a mixed bag.

Hi,

I think it is easy for so many folks to dismiss this album ... but go back some 50 plus years, and there was absolutely NOTHING that came out that just blew the doors off your ears in both content and total sonic adjustment to your likes and dislikes.

Today, folks dismiss it ... because all the other bands are catering to their butt. The Beatles at the time, had another mission ... and let me tell you that it was very different, and it is something that TODAY, we dislike immensely and thin the band is stuck up. Guess what ... John would probably tell you to __________. George would say I don't care, this is what I want to do. Paul wouldn't listen because he already had a new melody or song in mind! Ringo ... I just play the drums and it's about the group.

I don't think that folks today can relate to a lot of that ... as sad as that is, and the artistic stand that the band had to take at the time ... and did so very well and successfully, something that today would have too many trolls and pushers trashing it senseless!

Try, one of these days, to go back some 50 years, and forget all the "music" that you like, or all the songs, and only play the stuff from that year for 24 hours ... you might learn something ... about  "time", "place" and "space" that too many rock fans don't give a damn about!
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Masterpiece.

Side 1 (possibly their best side ever) > Side 3 >>

Side 4 > Side 2.

Today, regardless of all the nonsense you make up in your own head without checking with reality: it is still counted as a classic and considered one of the most important, influential and best albums in the history of popular music.
