Hammill, no doubt about it. Talk about unique...

I agree with you oracus, Di Giacomo is one of the best singer from Italy, but there are so many good vocalists out there...

But doesn't unique in prog mean "normal?"

if that is the case- then I'll say Steven Wilson

Yeah I was going to say this.

I like the singer from Soft Machine (why can't I think of his name?). He's got that sort of college-student voice. He was also amazing in Caravan.

Jon Anderson from Yes was able to throw his voice in ways nobody else ever could.

And Mike Patton really can range his voice quite a bit (assuming you're into swanky music, which I'm mostly not).

Let's not forget Roger Waters and David Gilmour working together; their voices were very similar, and they both have a very dark element of tragedy to them.

Heck, if Geedy Lee is in here then Jonsi from Sigur Ros can be here also. And don't forget Mr. Doctor  from Devil Doll. Very wierd indeed

Hammill.

But glittering prizes
And endless Compromises

Of course there are so many, but for me Francesco Di Giacomo is the most unique singer (is also the best singer in prog history but that is an other post)

many are unique for different reasons. Too hard to say someone is most unique

JA is uniquely angelic

Hamill is uniquely strange most likely to polarise opinion

 Peter Gabriel is uniquely multivoiced

Steve Howe is uniquely dreadful no matter how he tries

Thijs Van Leer can yodel better than anyone else

How wonderful to be so profound

- Hammill
- Lee
- Van Leer, if only for his style

I'll go with... Hammill!

MR. Doctor is called the "man with 1000 voices". Quite an exageration calling him that, but still he's very multiphasetic(?) with his voice.

Roger Chapman of Family. That strangulated voice of his is unmistakable.
