I was disappointed big time with online buying. At least from here in Canada, it seems to be no cheaper (more expensive, in fact) & requires me to drive up my Visa bill. (Too easy to spend too much, as well, with just a few mouse-clicks! I'm sure some of you can relate....)

Instead, I opted to give my business to a small local CD store here. The guy will order what I want (& I'll know first if it is available), & I can pay cash when it arrives, thus help to support the local economy, and save myself those expensive shipping charges.

That's by far the best option for me. Online shopping is out, pour moi.

I do the same. I order through Borders bookstore and pick it up at the local store without paying shipping costs.

So Petey,where exactly is this wonderful store of yours? Surely it deserves some free publicity.

Play.com is pretty good for the UK with free delivery. I also use Key mail order who have a good selection of prog.

I do prefer to buy from shops though. In Glasgow, we have several good ones.

"Lost in Music" off Byres Road in the West End has a specific prog section, mainly neo prog, plus good new and used sections.

Avalanche in Dundas Street beside Queen Street station is pretty good for prog metal, with a good second hand selection.

Fopp in Union Street and Byres Road does many of the more popular prog remasters for £5 a time.

Missing Records in Oswald Street, near Central Station is all second hand, with some good prog at good prices from time to time.

I used to find Plastic Factory in Birmingham had a great selection. Anyone know if they moved or just closed down completely?

In London, there are several good new and used shops in Berwick Street, off Oxford Street.

I can strongly recommend Ultima Thule in Leicester (Conduit Street, next door to the railway station - but watch out for  their strange opening hours), and check out  their website via Audion Ultima Thule. Perhaps the best Krautrock specialist in the UK, and also heavily into European prog.
