I can help you. If it isn't a bad song (better: you're not sure), it's surely a good one.Wink

It's not a bad song OR a good song. It's a GREAT song. The middle section in 13/8 with the keyboard solo is amazing, while the verses/choruses are clever and entertaining, an attempt at Gabriel's humoristic lyrical content from when he was in the band.

I don't know why, but I've always had a thing for this song. Perhaps it's not really good, but it sure is FUN - which is much more than can be said for "More Fool Me" or "Your Own Special Way"Dead.

A good song from a very good album. Great album, in fact.

It's a good song but A Trick Of The Tail is such a strong album that it is vying with the title track to be the least good song on the album.

listened to the live version on “seconds out“ the other day. and just
after the first ARP-solo, when hackett's guitar sneaks in over that
mellotron crescendo with the 13/8-beat, i thought “whoa, if anyone
asked me, i'd play him this part for an epitomy of 70's prog rock!“
apart from that, the song is a lot of fun. not early GENESIS's finest, but

a good song

nonetheless!

R.I.P. luciano. god bless.

Not a good song, but a superb instrumental middle section!

Love it, although it's not the best cut from ATOTT. It is one of my personal favorites though.

I always considered this song to be a Collins'  era version of songs like Harold The Barrel and The Battle of Epping Forest, only I like this one a whole lot more.

Tony shines on the middle instrumental section.  The song sorta plods along and then WOW!  The whole track turns into a monster.  Worked very well live, too.

I remember back in 1977 not having bought the two albums sung by PHil Collins, as I was convinced that nobody could sing for Genesis if not PG. Well, I happened to see the video (yes, even if MTV wasn't born yet!) of Robbery from the middle section, hence the keyboard solo. I was in exstasy and wondering "who the hell is this band". Then Phil singing comes in...The next thing I remember is me junping on a train to go in the city and buy "Trick" and "Wind" right away. YES, a monster song!!!

Excellent song! It might have even been the first Genesis video I ever saw.

Agreed the mid section is brilliant and the song would be pretty average without it.

Well, it's better than "Your own special way" and the ending is good, but I find this style of Collins a bit annoying, so I normally skip over it.

a little poppy, a little cheesy, but a good song nonetheless... Maybe in the spirit of Harold and his barrell !!!
Anyway, I do enjoy Banks run on the keyboards
