Hi!
I'm looking for some really happy, uplifting prog bands, something like flower kings for example.  Which ones would you recommend to me?

Any early neo-prog for me is quite happy. As for the old stuff, check out the psych era of Traffic (sixties). Anyway, it's hard to find happinnes in prog Wink
The best you can is good enough...

Sorry, but Prog it's all about Darkness And Misery

I have three strong recommendations - ANCESTRY from Italy, LORIEN from UK and MOON SAFARI from Norway. All three are up-lifting without being cheesy

Stormy Six and Samla Mammas Manna are two entertaining and very funny, upbeat bands in the avant-rock style (actually being two of the original RIO groups.) I'd suggest Macchina Maccheronica and Maltid if you're ready to mess about with the avant side of prog. =)

in a more classic prog-rock vein, Gentle Giant's "Free Hand" seems very uplifting to me, but then I ignore their weak lyrics - it might be about murder-suicides for all I know. ;P

yep, Canterbury bands are well-humoured mostly. Another suggestion is TUNA LAGUNA (check my reviews on them), recently added band, they have their EP for free download via their web-site

Staying with Canterbury, Hatfield and the North have some very cheery, uplifting songs and titles - a prime example being the infectious "Share It". I also find most of "The Yes Album" very uplifting.

Another recommendation for Caravan. The album that always makes me happy no matter what is "For Girls Who Grow Plump In The Night".  Check out the lyrics for the first song and you'll see what I mean.

"Wheels over me" by Mew is a pretty happy proggish piece of music.
"Freewill" by Rush definately is uplifting... even if you aren't a Libertarian.
