RIO and Zeuhl fanatics welcome! This looks like it'll be quite a hard decision for some people out there. Both are extremely creative bands that shaped history to come and both are even relatively inaccessible to some proggers as a result of their unique take on music. Which will continue?
Please: If you are not familiar with one or both of the band's material, I urge that you use the links provided and at least listen to the samples on their respective pages (or Youtube if the particular band has no online streaming). Henry Cow's PA page: http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=608 Magma's PA page: http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=646 As always, discussions are encouraged. If nobody is going to vote...this score might just be it ...3-2...........no, no Logan , Szygy ,Cooper , KBT and other Magma fans haven't shown here yet...so the final score might be 7-4 for Magma1....i don't know how Alex is going to vote...maybe no vote either!

A very easy vote for me, Magma.
Always found them a very convincing and potent band, even if I'm not their most devoted fan. Henry Cow are definitely strong, but I think their particular brand of madness is too abstract and finickity for my liking. Not an expert on either band, really, having a couple of Magma albums, one Henry Cow album and having heard a couple of samples. |

I was going to abstain too, but I saw someone voted for Magma without knowing anything by Henry Cow, so here's my balancing vote. ;P Read the topic people - it suggests you acquaint yourself with both bands before voting.

Er, yeah... something of a no-brainer for me. Yes, Henry Cow is a massively influential band, beloved by a great number of people. Rock in Opposition is a wonderful musical force that has neatly stabled together so many bands that are becoming favourites for me. Magma, on the other hand, are responsible for Zeuhl and for influencing... well, a lot of the same people who are influenced by Henry Cow. I can see how this poll could be... next to impossible, especially if you like both bands.
I've been listening to Mr Hairy Bullock a bit of late, and... well... I'm still not sure it's my glass of tea. Magma, on the other hand... well, I don't need to go into detail. So, duh, Magma it is! (Alex, is this really a random selection or are you being EVIL again?! ) |

Can't vote here - don't know either band too well, only having Western Culture by Henry Cow, and nothing at all by Magma. These aren't my favourite genres, so I'm not really qualified to vote on this one.

I knew it. This is the 3rd sign of the apocalypse when Logan doesn't vote for Magma. Next thing you know, Antoine will be voting against Soft Machine.
I'm gonna go build my shelter now.

It was all random, as I couldn't have foretold either band making it out of the first round to face in the second to begin with. Plus, they're both in my top 3, so why would I have them face each other this early? |
