"THE MARS VOLTA: OCTAHEDRON Out June 23 on Warner Bros. Records (NORTH AMERICA) and June 22nd on Mercury Records (REST OF WORLD)

The Mars Volta’s fifth studio album, Octahedron, will be released June 23 by Warner Bros. Records in North America and on June 22nd on Mercury Records in the rest of the world."

I'm looking extremely forward to this.Having seen interviews with Omar he described it as their acoustic album.I hope this resurrects faith into TMV for all the Bedlam haters.

Let's hope for a US tour soon! I'd really love to see them live, as I missed them last year when they played in MilanUnhappy.

YES!

idk how 'acoustic' the album will be. It may mean acoustic guitars, it may just mean a toned down Volta. Either way, im getting the new album.

I'm sure Omar's definition of acoustic for TMV is going to completely different to ours.especially with the thought of Thomas Pridgen on a "acoustic album"

The big news here is the new label. TMV could only release one album a year with Universal, so we might see a greater output from this band. For those who don't know, the LP following this one is rumored to be mostly complete.

Ugh, god help us if Mars Volta does more than one album per year. Have you seen how many solo projects these guys put out per day? They're like a modern Frank Zappa. Let's hope they manage to keep some quality among their quantity and not outdo themselves Dead

I love Octahedrons but I'm not sure how I feel about it as an album title. Anyway high hopes for this.

Dohoho! Have you heard their past 3 albums?

I for one will not be duped into buying this one without trying it first. $15 is too much for a few laughs and a lot of bitterness.

I didn't even really like their first one, the second I like quite a bit and the third is hit and miss, haven't even gotten Bedlam yet. I just forsee a lot of shenanigans coming from rapid releases

You're buying the new DT album but doubt the quality of the new TMV?

Backwards?

Given how amazing their last album was, it would be pretty hard to top;)

Have a look at the Wikipedia page - it's got track listings plus cover art, which again looks awesome - like the last two it's very surreal, kind of Bitches Brew-esque, but needless to say they don't sound a lot like fusion (or any)-era Miles:

100% Agree.

I don't like either band's new stuff, so I guess I both agree and dissagree with both of you when it comes to each bands' upcoming new releases.
