There's many things I dislike that people seem to enjoy on this forum. I make this thread so you can do like me and tell us about your own vision of certain albums and to try to convince me some things are good by posting great songs. Here I go: I dislike the album Tarkus by ELP (except the bits in the song Tarkus where Greg Lake sings) I really dislike Dream Theater I dislike Spock's Beard Transatlantic too Even the Flower Kings I dislike the album Wish You Were Here I don't like Magma I dislike Opeth I dislike Marillion I dislike Phideaux and many more wich I can't think of right now.

As far as what people on this forum like - I dislike Radiohead, I also dislike The Smashing Pumpkins, and Dave Mathews Band.
That's pretty much it.
Everything else I can find something to like.
Hate is a strong word, do you really HATE a band or artist? What did they ever do to you?

Neo-Prog. Every band that I have heard except Children of Eden under that genre has not interested me enough.
Also, I can't seem to get into The Flower Kings as much as everyone gets into them.
I LOVE Opeth, but I can find reasons that people would dislike them so I understand what the OP is saying.
EXCEPT, I find it very hard to find anything to dislike about Magma. :)

Listened to a couple of their albums, not what I expected at all. Australian prog folk - I was expecting something with didgeridoos, you know, something Australian. What did I get? A lot of boring chanting  |

Most bands in any of the metal categories ultimately bore me. It is exciting for one song, then it all starts to sound the same. This includes older classic bands as well as newer ones, notably Porcupine Tree, Opeth, and Metallica.
The album We're Only in it for the Money is mostly random noise and has no artistic value. The same goes for Trout Mask Replica.
Kobaian simply sounds like a mix between German and French, no big deal. And what is the point of singing in a language nobody else knows?
Radiohead is dull and Sigur Ros is coma inducing.
Tool does what they do very well but they only do three or four things, so after three or four songs they repeat themselves. They also repeat themselves in all of their songs. This all ends up with a lot of repetetion.
I wish Dream Theater would stop showing off and just play some songs. Ones that don't sound like Metallica. Their lyrics are sophmoric.
Zappa wallowed in way too much juvenalia.
Blackmore's Night is for tween girls, not the demographic I belong to.
Steve Morse has been playing the same guitar solo for 25 years. Granted, it is a good one, but still.
Anybody can listen to what they want for whatever reasons they want. That is not anybody else's decision. These are just some of my negative views.

I don't like H Marillion and I don't like the rank and file of female fronted symph metal. Actually, nothing specifically against ffr, I don't really like later Therion who are also somewhat in that style. I think I like most of the other bands that are popular on this website to some extent at least.

I don't hate, but, people here seem to love
1.- Jon Anderson's voice (Like an ice pick in my eardrums) 2.- The most complex and cacophonous King Crimson releases 3.- Gentle Giant (Complexity for the sake of complexity) 4.- Dream Theater (If only all the musicians left DT and joined other Prog bands or played a song once in a while) 5.- VDGG (Don't understand most of their stuff) 6.- Opeth (If only Akkerfeld sung and not made those annoying sounds) 7.- The Decemberists (Well, don't dislike, simply don't care) 8.- The Mars Volta (Noise IMHO) 9.- Camel (Except Moonmadness)..Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz 10.- Going for the one.(cheesy)
I don't like them.
But no hate in my soul.
