Every progressive rock fan should be familiar with Van Der Graaf Generator's 1971 masterpiece "Pawn Hearts". Which of the three tracks is your personal favourite? My personal favourite is Lemmings, which contains some of progressive rock's most haunting lyrical imagery and my favourite vocal performance of all time. I am currently digging:
Hawkwind, Rare Bird, Gong, Tangerine Dream, Khan, Iron Butterfly, and all things canterbury and hard-psych. I also love jazz! Please drop me a message with album suggestions. |

I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect. |

"A Plague ...". I wouldn't say "Lemmings" could compete with it since "A Plague ..." has more time with more interesting ideas.

This. Man-erg is one of the three best VdGG songs - in my book, A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers whas the first sign that 20+ minute epics are not their strongest side. Edited by someone_else - January 22 2014 at 03:45 |

Indeed. I think I've only got all the way through Plague twice. It reaches a point where it just becomes unlistenable and annoying to me. |

Plague is amazing, although I can only really listen to the album as a unit.

"I know that there's no time. I know that there's no rhyme." Still, I am one of the few that will pick Lemmings. I like that one a lot.

A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers may be my all time favorite epic, and 100% is my favorite VDGG song.
